Plenty of questions - what do I need for my goal? E85!
First off, I'm new around here - name's Robert, soon 25 year old guy from Sweden. I own a 1996 S14 kouki, with the SR20DET (blacktop) in it, of course Last setup made 398hp at the crank, and now for 2011, I'm stepping it up. But I'm still full of questions that I really hope you fine gentlemen can help me with!

First off, the 2011 spec looks like this (only mentioning parts thats relevant)
- Forged bottom-end, all ARP-bolts/studs, ACL race bearing etc. Std bore.
- Ported & polished head, combustion chambers, radius valve job etc.
- Crower springs, Crower stage 3 272 cams, new rockers etc
- GReddy intake (v1 that uses the stock runners), GReddy intercooler
- 1200cc FiveO/JECS injectors, Circuit Sports fuel rail
- Custom top mount manifold, TiAL 44mm WG, Precision SC5857SP turbo
- PowerFC w/ Commander and Datalogit, Z32 MAF, GReddy Profec B Spec2
- Walbro 255 intank and a Bosch 044 inline, but more on that below

That's the stuff I can remember to mention.

As the title says, I will be running E85, since it's readily available here in Sweden, and the SR20 seems to love it. My goal is 500 crank hp, and that shouldn't be a problem, but seeing as how I've spent all this money and come this far, I'd like to make sure my setup can make 500whp.

So here's where my questions come in:
- Fuel feed line and return line - what size do I need?
- My new rail has two feed holes on both ends of the rail, and one return in the middle of it. I've seen many other builds with dual feeds - is this neccessary? If so, what is the best way of using both? One line from the tank and then a Y-block or something?
- Will a 255lph walbro to an external 044 be enough? Or should I go for an intank 044 to another inline 044?
- Ignition! How much boost/hp can the stock coilpacks handle? How does the PowerFC work with other ignition types/setups? Is a ignition amplifier to the stock packs a good solution?

Those are my main concerns/thoughts for now, I really hope I can get some good info and help from you guys

we run E85 in almost all the big builds in our workshop

i run E85 in our workshop development car S14 SR20DET and we have made 580hp at the rear wheels

the major thing u need to look at is the fuel system
the lines do not need to be upgraded the standard size lines will work perfectly fine
its the injectors and fuel pump which u will need to upgrade

we use a twin fuel pump inside the standard tank ( didnt want to go surge tank and external pump as its still a street car )
Powertune Online Store: S14/S15 Twin In-Tank Fuel Pump Kit

we also use a top feed injector with I.D 1450cc injectors which we have already maxed out at this power level so we will be upgrading them to 2200cc injectors very soon
Powertune Online Store: 1000cc Top Feed Fuel Rail Kit

more details on the car can be found here
POWERTUNE Red Dragon - Hardtuned.net

my 180sx also runs E85 full time and has 522hp at the rear wheels with E85 and it runs a sard surge tank with twin pumps and 1500cc injectors
still retains standard size fuel lines as well
PROJECT SR20VET - Hardtuned.net

both cars are not using dual feed rails and are making stupid amounts of power so i would say its not necessary

a single 044 external mounted pump with a surge tank should be enough
255lph walbro will be fine as a lift pump

we ran the S14 with standard coil packs for a while but they ended up shitting them self after a while
if your planing on using a power fc i would recommend using splitfires
we use haltechs on all our cars which allow us to run CDI system with AEM pencil coils this is the best way to go for a really good ignition system

Wow, thank you! Lots of great info there! Well then I might not need new lines after all..

I've looked at Splitfires, but some people have had them fail on them and I'm scared they'll die on me too But now I'm leaning more towards getting Splitfires instead of spending money on new lines and fittings etc..

splitfires isnt much of an upgrade but because your limited to a power fc there isnt much choice

alot better switching to a cdi system and aem pencil coils

i was still able to make over 500 rear wheel hp with standard coil packs
and the S14 is using S15 coil packs with out any problems

Denso Pencil Coil's and M&W CDI IGNITION SYSTEM is where its at if our serious about ignition

Well I'll probably get a set of Splitfires, in any case they're probably a bit better than OEM ones

Then run the 044 inline after the tank, with the Walbro in it (won't be running a catch tank either, I have no track close to me to go to anyway).

Do you reckon that 1200cc injectors and Splitfires will be enough for something just under 500whp? And with the Walbro + 044.

From a local who has tuned on e85, I was told a stock pump used as an inline is just fine, then a bosch intank. As a single inline doesnt really do much anyways.

Or...use a dual inline going to a single intank for big power.

We made 420 WHP (close to your 500 crank goal) in the S13 on E85 before the single Walbro 255 HP fuel pump reached it's limit. Stock fuel lines did just fine for us at these levels.

You're from Sweden? You should be making twice that power at least!

You will be fine with a regular single feed and single return setup. I wouldn't do dual feed an single return if you want to have any control over fuel pressure at all. Just ignore the center provision and do the normal thing.

Like STR8E180 said, you'll be fine with the Walbro as your lift pump and the Bosch 044 as the in-line. You'll easily support your goals even with the higher volume needs of E85.

They can handle your goals, no problem. I think they have trouble around 600-700 WHP, but don't quote me on that.

Ah, sounds good to me! I was also looking at the "new" Aeromotive 340.. but it seems as the 340 outflows the 044 at low PSIs, and when it starts reaching 60+ PSI, the 044 beats the 340. Still not entirely sure what I'm going to do. I've already bought the 044, but the 340 is cheap.

LOL, why, you think there's many high-hp build over here?

Shouldn't the stock lines be changed for Teflon lines, as the high amounts of ethanol doesn't eat away at Teflon?

Just something I've heard.

Thanks Ben for the added info, now I'm more confident that my plans are going to work well Though I'll still probably get a set of Splitfires, better safe than sorry, plus used ones in good condition are pretty damn cheap.

Well, yes and no - ethanol isn't as "nice" to materials as regular gasoline is, but the OEM lines should still hold up. Know plenty of builds that retain all stock fuel lines and still run well after years of use with only E85 in the tank.
