Well, I found a 15psi adjustable WG from a Dodge neon. Two bolt, straight rod, looks like it will work. What do you think? It has a 15psi base spring. Would this be better to run than the 7psi I am currently running?

IDK, that looks a lot like the 6psi one w/an adjustable rod...Unless you can confirm that's 15psi somewhere else I wouldn't trust it.

As for your question in the wanted section, I'd say the 11psi will be fine. I've always heard a wastegate can take twice what it's rated at. So an 11psi should hold 22psi. I think that's your best bet. Like I said, I can't find another straight-rod one that's like 14psi. I guess you can always buy a bent-rod one and try to bend it straight lol

OR go external wastegate.

this is what you need. I used one similar with my gt28rs. then I got pissed off at the whole internal gate deal and went external. i will never run another turbo internally gated again no mater what the turbo size is.

LoL I know how you feel I hate internal gates with a passion.

clocked up? I can see maybe clocked up, but usually clocked down you have to run a special WG bracket that the straight rods seem to work well with.

Don't want to get off-topic or give my own opinions too far, but I'd love to run external gate, but I've heard bad stories of people getting the stock cast iron manifold welded and always ending up with cracks at some point. I could go custom manifold, but then I'd have to get my downpipe re-done. That's at least the reason why I stay internal WG.

ive read/heard if you heat up the cast mani (really hot) to weld it and then stick it in dry sand to let it cool slowly that you shouldnt have cracking issues

and now that i have external wg i love it

if it done right it will not crack. the sand trick works but i know some else on the forum that does it another way.

to the op I would port the w/g opening. Just make sure not to open it up too much.

My turbo is clocked upwards. Here is a picture. I modded my own WG bracket by cutting and welding the two brackets I had to replicate the one that they sell for FWD SR20s.

So EWG is probably out of the question at this time due to cost. Would the higher spring rate internal WG (like 15psi+) help smooth out the boost spike, and hold more boost to redline, or should I not even bother?
