any particular reason HKS camshafts arent used?
i was wondering exactly why alot of the sr20 guys dont really speak too much upon the HKS camshafts, step 1,2,so on you always hear ppl talk about S4 And BC cams but not so much on the HKS and i was wondering if there was any particular reason......me personally im running the HKS camshafts but just wondered why i dont hear much on them from other people or other peoples expierences on them....? just curious

i wanna rephrase it and say im not saying they arent used, but just not talked about as much, is it beucase of price?

Nothing wrong with them.

I have been thinking about HKS cams for a while now, I just need to get together the funds. Not sure why many don't use them. It might be the price tag.

yea, that is what i figured, personally i love the hks camshafts, i give partial credit to the camshafts for why my setup picks up better with running the .86AR and partial reason why my setup made so much power with so little of psi.

RWD crowd worship the HKS cam much like the FWD crowd worship the JWT stuff. Different schools of thought I guess.

Price? They cost less then JWT, about $480-500 for a set. HKS cam gears, I picked up for $307 shipped. HKS cams are great and cost the same or less then the other big name brands.

Toda I think are the cheapest at $220 a cam
Tomei and HKS are generally $250 a cam
Greddy... I dont know anyone that runs greddy cams
JUN... shiiiii
BC $250 a set

Does HKS make cams compatible with FWD SR? Last time I looked they didn't make an exhaust cam with the notch for the distributor, but that was a LONG time ago.

It is the dowels that caused people not to want to deal with HKS cams. People would have to have a shop machine them to fit the FWD.

The dowels are the same diameter, just dif lengths. BC cams come with only the short dowel and we use them in RWD, I do not know if there is a clearence issue of the long dowel on the FWD sr, but you can remove the dowel fairly easily and then press the new on in, or spend a few bucks to have it done.
