sounds good. try to keep those shims in the same order u take them off. GTI-R has solid lifters and will be very noisy if the shim get misplaced

GTiR ARP studs are a different to normal SR20's in that they're 12.5mm diameter. But they still do not bottom out. I personally wouldn't use them. Same goes for Cometic head gaskets; have had plenty fail here in the UK on GTiR's so the reputation is not very good. Cosworth seem to be the better option (I'm running one with no issues) or if you're feeling rich HKS do a GTiR specific head gasket which doesn't need to be modified for the dowels

Ive never had a problem with SR studs, both IR and DET/DE.

Pushed 380-400wheel KW on a regular basis with track motor that get HOT and never an issue.

That seems a good price for the Cosworth gasket.

I really wouldn't use arp's myself. Like I said there are numerous failures linked to them. Stock bolts have proven to be very strong. I have not heard of a head gasket failure due to the head lifting.

thanks bahamassr20 i forgot about greg ill give him a call tomorro.

makaveli,
do you think it would be alright to reuse my stock bolts, they have never been removed. i know the stocks are good and have heard of people running insane numbers. Iv heard from a lot of people than use arps that the problem is people dont tq them enough, theres some difference in using moly lube and then using motor oil where they have to be torqued alot diff. anyway i think i may just run stock

On my ARPs i only use the ARP moly lube and my final torque is 85 ftlb. Never lifted a head.

I think head bolts can be used up to three times, however I get new ones every time I rebuild anything,
