Yeah ecu's usually dont go bad unless there is a problem elsewhere. Unless of course its an old mitsubishi. hahaha but even then it was caused by dumb idle air control setups that are powered by the ecu and short circuit causing the ecu to fry. That was just dumb on their part.

But yeah burning up ecu's is not very common and usually not without other causes.

JWT can custom tune your ECU. They will ask you for logs with wideband readings in order to fine tune it for your specific car.

The JWT ecu is good for a basic turbo build. I would say T25/T28 and small T3 based turbos. After spending plenty of time with my brother on the dyno with various turbo setups there is no way an ECU can be plug and play tuned.

There are way too many variables that come into play that make it dangerous to pop a JWT ecu in and go.

For example when JWT makes a specific tune it is more than likely tuned around a turbo other than yours. When tuning, spool plays a big part in tuning the timing map. Under peak load different turbos, different setups will reach that peak a different times. Especially dealing with a stroker motor you may reach that peak and hit a timing load/rpm cell that has way too much timing.TP's are also another thing that varies in the JWT maps. We have had some cars that jump to different TP load scales for identical setups.

When you study and understand the bits and pieces of actual tuning your perspective changes greatly. Again, I am not knocking it as at one point in time many years ago that is what I used, but it is not the way to go for big setups like these today.

i personally watched a jwt ecu and a calum burn up this year. They dont replace units like other companies do.

But like I said for your average guy its good. Dre those are great numbers for a chipped setup.

Some user error to have an ecu burn up.

The calum/nistune is the way to go hands down. The only advantage of a standalone would be the fine resolution in the timing/fuel maps. A stand alone is not going to make ANY more power on the average setup to about 550hp.

Is this the same car that was in the garage when I came to see you.

Dyno charts and pics of the car will be up by Sunday. All runs made up to 8500 RPMs

10 PSI = 445.67 WHP @ 332.19 Lb Ft Torque

15 PSI = 509.30 WHP @ 376.46 LB FT Torque

19 PSI = 543.82 WHP @ 398.46 LB Ft Torque

We stopped at 19 PSI because when we went to 23 PSI the clutch slipped. We figure we would have gotten 620 WHP at 25 PSI. New clutch will be going in soon and we will be back for more fun with some changes.

List of everything done

SR20VE 20V motor ( 2.185L )
90mm CP pistons
Mazworx sleeved block
Mazworx head gasket
Eagle rods
ACL Bearings
Ported 20V intake manifold and N1 TB ( By Andreas Miko )
Ported 20V head with Supertech Springs ( By Andreas Miko )
20V cams
GT37R turbo
Custom turbo manifold
Tial 44 mm wastegate
Alternator on back of motor ( By Andreas Miko )

MSD Digital 6
MSD Blue Coil
Red Ultra Wire

For The Non Belivers JWT In That @ss

JWT ECU
MSD 96 LB Injectors
Ford Lightning MAF
JWT Pop Filter
4in plastic intake

3in turbo back exhaust with Apexi Dunk

17x7.5 rims with 215/40/17 tires

Had to bring base fuel presure to 38 PSI because the car ran to rich at 44 PSI, aside from that, the car ran flawless. The ECU will be sent back for some fine tuning because the car has a fuel mixture of 6.5 - 8.5 RPMS of 11 to 1. We could not lean it out using fuel presure anymore becuase the fuel mixture is at 12 to 1 between 5,000 and 6,000 RPMs.

Changes that will be made but not to soon

Bigger turbo ( 6765 ) ( 25 WHP more at 20 PSI )
Have Clark Steppler make changes to ECU ( 20 WHP more at 20 PSI )
larger air filter ( 5 WHP more at 20 PSI )
3.5 inch exhaust ( 10 WHP more at 20 PSI )

I figure with changes above 600 WHP at 20 PSI is very possible.

BS. I made the same amount of power as other guys when I had less mods but with an Emanage back in 2003 when everyone told me to go JWT. You can make more power with a stand alone at EVERY level.

id have to agree, i made 20whp alone using a safc2 a couple of years ago.

for your basic t25 t28 set up jwt is fine.

anything other then that you should spend the money and get a proper engine management.

BS? lol ok. Did you even read what I wrote?

I would love to hear you explain how you will make more power with a standalone over a Nistune RT/Calum RT ecu under 550hp+.

^^^ Same here.... Many people just want a mail in tune that makes 600whp jajajaja....
