I thought I had explained it reasonabley well, the point I was trying to make is that if you have to retard the ignition too far from the optimum you will lose power. If this out weighs the power gained from increasing the CR then the 'balance' of the engine is wrong. If you are able to get away with not having to retard the ignition and can run massive CR more power to you (quite literally!).

Obviously this assumes the same boost levels, fueling etc. which can all be adjusted, hence my comment about iterative loops to find the optimum set up.

Don't get me wrong I like innovation and I'm all for trying new things, I hope you're very succesful with your build and look forward to seeing results. I guess my comment was partially down to my mind set of building street orientated cars based on using UK pump gas.

Ok well here is the deal guys. I've been doing alot of researching to see which route I

wanted to go for the build. Obviously if I stick with the basic 9.5:1 compression, sure it's

gonna make power we know that. I wanted to swing around a different route than

what every other person has done on the forum and go with a high compression big turbo

motor. Now with that being said, there are obviously some other variables that come into

play if that happens to be the route I choose. What gas I run, tuning, what valves in

the head I run etc etc. Now with me saying that Mazworx said it couldn't be done , well

I'm not sure who the guy I was talking to but I already had a feeling from just how and

what he was saying to me that I was pretty sure this guy didn't know what he was

saying. So with that, I will obviously call back and I will find out for sure. I see no reason

why it cannot be done. Tuning it no matter what compression it will be will not be a issue.

The car will be in the hands on the dyno from some people that tune cars that run into

the 6's in the 1/4, So I have no worries. Where my worries are going to be is the tranny,

as we all know the GTiR trannys are garbage, but hopefully we have a few things coming

out soon that will help it stay together.

timing is an issue with a big comp turbo set up...you can still run an aggressive map but have to watch to where you ramp it in...both miller and Palo run 14:1 pistons and are pretty much the highest hp, fastest 4whacker FWD cars around

Keep it 12.5:1 to play it safer.

14:1 is nuts, those cars are striaght crazy though. Since they are strictly drag cars, I wonder how often they need to be torn down. It would be measured in passes I am assuming since these cars are not street cars. I think the OP wants to drive his car on the street also if I am not mistaken so that is why I said around 11:1 but it all depends on the fuel you have in you area and which kind you want to run etc. Figure that out first and how often you will be driving it on the street and where you can fill up. With 11:1, if you were out of your regular area and you needed to run 93 to get home, I am sure I could tune that setup on low boost to run decent on 93, not optimal but decent enough to get him home safely.
