9.5:1 to 8.5:1 What to expect?
What kind of differences should i expect when goin to lower compression pistons. I would assume some power loss, but how is it gonna feel in the daily drivability aspect?

all the 8.5:1 motors that i have owned have all felt sluggish its almost like no power off the line. it just feels weak down low compared to th 9.5:1 motors ive had.

^ I agree with the DET being a lil slower, I went from a DE+T to a DET both stock T25 and I liked the DE+T setup better in the lower power band range. As far as regular driving both motors feel the same. I knew I was going with a bigger turbo one day and the DET motors are good for those setups which is why I decided to get one and not just go with another JDM DE like I had before...

I have a 9.5:1 and driven a few 8.5:1 and didn't notice to much of a diiference. But yes there is a difference.

So, maybe with a T25 a 9.5:1 DE makes a little more power, but if we are talking about a GT2871R boosting 20 PSI.. It is safe to run this setup on a 9.5:1?

The 9.5:1 will have more power down low. The 8.5:1 can run a lot more boost and therefore will make more power up top. Let's see a 9.5:1 run 20+ lbs of boost daily like you can with a 8.5:1; bet it won't last nearly as long.

It will last just as long as a 8.5:1. It all falls back on tuning. Just go bigger OP. Go 12.5:1 !!

I will... and run 30lbs of boost on top of it!!! Like I said. Godzilla is coming.

So, there is no rason to use a DET anymore? Cuz I'm planning on a DET swap and at least a GT2871R, but maybe a T3 like GT30 or SC6262. I will like to run like 20 PSI, its not becuase I want a lot of horse power, but I want something fast on drag.

It will be great if I can use a SR20DE for that turbos, stocks DE's are like $390 plus shipping. Thats a good price for an engine!
