Thread: I have an exaust leak question!

Well if its not one thing its another. I should have all these lil bugs worked out by summer though.

I have an exaust leak right at where my manifold and turbo connect. Its actually getting worse as the gasket gets burns up! You can put your hand in front of the manifold heat shield and literaly feel the exaust air pushing out onto your hand at idle! With 7 pounds and an open down pipe the car used to haul ass. It also built boost by 2500. Now it start to pull hard at 4k! Im gonna upgrade the manifold anyway when I remove it since I have to take all that **** off anyway to get to the bolts.

But How much HP do you think im losing from that leak? It feels like at least 30whp-40whp.

only way to know for sure is to have hit the dyno before and after.

but it cant be good, your motor is trying to cram exhaust gas into the turbo but its getting forced out the leak.

definitly no way to really know how much power is actually lost from the leak, but obviously leaks need to be fixed in order to get back to full potential

Yeah ive got to be down at least 30whp lol. Its sad. 15psi now feels like 7psi. 7 would light the tires up in first if you really hit it. Now at 15 it just kinda spins!

Stratt, all this little stuff is just all the little bugs that need to be worked out. It doesnt help that with these prothanes I have to check my bolts bout every month because some get loose over time with the vibration. But the motors only been in the car and running for a good 3 weeks now and Ive only had little stupid problems pop up minus me having to open it up to swap the crank out which was my fault. But I took advantage of opening it up and put all new bearing and everything in!
