I was thinking of using the money to get a MR-2 Turbo or a FD3 RX7 twin turbo. Or something...

Keep your head up! Don't give up. You'll regret it if it's your fun car.

LOL I figured you would chime in. Believe me i have thought about just buying a wrx or an evo, and selling my nx and g20. I would drive an evo or wrx year round. But despite having alot of friends with evos and wrx's i havent given into their peer pressure yet. LOL

LukaMcCloud Dont let it get you down too much. I have broken many parts as well including 4 sr20de's, 3 clutch set ups, 3 sets of axles, 1 jwt s4 cam, smashed 2 valves, a few headgaskets, etc....

You just rebuild and come back stronger than before. If you sell your car you will most likely regret it down the road and buy another one only to have to start from square one again modding it.

I've just had nothing but bad luck with this thing pretty much since I bought it 7 years ago. I've been contemplating it for some time, but I really don't want to get rid of it. I love the car, but this breaking shit all the time has to stop...

That's what I've been trying to do for so long. I still don't even have my VE'd B14 back up and running yet. It would have been if this piece of shit didn't blow the head gasket in the first place... I just would like to be done with having to work on the bitch for a while.

brother take it from me, this year has been a year from hell... shop fucked my car up, and wont take responsibility, and i had a vet that was just a paper weight. i was working on the car one night in the garage and i broke the oil pan of the new motor, i got so fed up because it was just costing me more $, i sold everything. I just had enough of working on the car , late night, stress , not hanging with gf, friend and family. I dropped the car off last night and it felt good and i was sad at the same time. My friend gave me great advice, the car u want to build should be the car u want not the car u have. Its harder sometime to start fresh and cut ur looses, Yes its very easy to keep pouring money in something u already have. it takes a real man to admit when its time to move on, but if the car is not truly what u wont dont fix it. I am saving up for a house and evo 6.5 , and buying a gas saver for the time being (corolla S here i come ). Yes u can buy another car had have same turbo problems, but if its something u love and wanna work on and spend $$ its not problem.

Thats my 2 cents

good luck brother

cheers

I have not yet torn the engine apart, but it blew through the vc gasket, I'm sure the valve seals, and I'm not sure if it did in the head gasket...

I cant see how it could build up this oil presure in the head where it could blow out VC gasket and Valve seals.

If there is a breather on the valve cover going between the MAF and turbo or open to atmosphere. There is no way it could blow out the Valve cover gasket seal. No one would seal off the valve cover so this is out of the question.

The valve sealas are under no oil presure, on a turbo car they can catch a little boost presure from blow by through the valves when under boost in the intake.

One of the main problems that alot of people have is their lack of knowledge on what they are doing. I have seen many small things that have driven people nuts. most common below.

1. running rich - bad gas mileage. Someone puts on a large 255 Walbro pump and dont realise the fuel presure will go up into the 55 PSI range at idle from stock 36 PSI. This is generally a 1/5 increase in fuel delivery. Yes an adjustable FPR needs to be put on but they dont know.

Take the turbo off!

Good luck getting it fixed, don't let the minor setback get you down. Especially since you obviously love your car and want to drive it. Don't leave us yet!

Oh, I'm not leaving. I still have two SR20 cars.

The mechanic at my dads work said it's probably bad piston rings which are allowing oil to fill the cylinders.

Dre: I have the breather hose that normally goes to the intake between the MAF and throttle body running to the intake pipe before the turbo. So I also don't see how it would have ever built up enough preassure to blow out the VC, but it blew out quite a bit of oil...

I don't really know what's wrong with it yet. I'll find out when I tear it apart. I'm certain that everything is fine and it likely just needs a good rebuild with some solid performance parts.
