Come on ben, you didn't just throw the "basic wg" thread at me did you?

For ultimate durability the water-cooled center section is a must. Oil temps can still see coking temp inside the turbo when run really hard with oil that can't keep up.

Even if letting the car idle perfectly for a cool-down period, oil can still coke inside the center section because of the heat. It happens.

I don't think the diaphragm is really going to have coolant in contact with it. Looks like to me they cast a hollow part inside the case to keep it cooler.

No thanks.

Eh... The Tial design won't leak coolant into your motor.... It is designed so it won't leak that way.

"Hot summer driving" is not the same as a track racing. I have seen some guys that have had a diaghram not even last a day of racing.

Like I said this design was based on feedback from the racing community.

+1 They are just cooling the body.

Tell that to the racing Porsche guys. They've been doing it all wrong apparently for over 30 years now.

Will they ever learn?

Apparently not. They still want the engine behind the rear tires of all things!

Porsche also ran air-cooled motors longer than anyone else too. They ran air-cooled, laggy high-power designs well into the late '90s. Just because they live in the stone-age, doesn't mean it is better.

Sure, porsche may not run water-cooled turbos, but they don't have a warranty to meet that actually covers that sort of failure. And they still do see somewhat frequent turbo failure. Despite running external engine oil coolers, though that helps a ton.

But like I said, you can choose to use it, or not to use it. Just like BOV adjustability, not necessary but a neat feature. Don't be hatin'.

Hating? I'd hate the fact that I'd spend more money on a watercooled gate, and then not even use it as you're suggesting. Where's the sense in that?

My friend runs a performance shop and said that he refuses to sell TiAL now. First the cracked housings, and now a watercooled gate...

WTF ever Cliff the Hater. I know you are running 2 watercooled Tials on your WRX now.
