Your buddy is not the sharpest tool in the shed is he? If the turbo keeps breaking, why keep getting the same one over and over?

I wouldn't chance it, yeah you save money, but is it really worth it having to change it out every few months?

Some people just want a turbo for the fact that they can say ooo look bitch I've got a turbo and get the cool blow off sound. If you are one of those people go buy an ebay turbo along with an ebay bov and ebay wastegate. However some of us bought a turbo to actually make power without worrying about the turbo spinning itself to pieces and having a reliable setup that we know will hold together when we hit boost.

I think masterpower would probably be the best quality ebay turbos out there Iv known a few people running them and they seem to last better than most. still not a garrett or precision tho

I have personal experience with ebay kits & this was back when it was just SSautoChrome advertizing those kits, the same company that "makes" the header that a lot of us on here use. I had a 93 Civic hatch with a stock GSR & the SSAC kit. We took one look at it & noticed 2 problems. The oil lines/fittings they supplied were too big & the spring that they used in the WG. We went with a smaller fitting/line & changed the spring to one from a Tial.

Except for the manifold cracking, the kit was perfect. We didnt have leaks or burning. The car was raced religiously at test & tunes & every weekend. I sold the car & the owner still had the same kit on the car for another year & a half until he started raising the boost without re-tuning it. I'll post pics & dyno charts tommorow if I can find them.

I have a Friend that installed a T3/T4 on a GSR motor in a hatch its been running good for almost 2 or 3 years now. And he tracks it 1/4 mile he hits 12.9.

Even the shop where i got my car tune said Ebay turbos have come along way from when they first came out. Lots off people don't do the install right just like with regular stock turbos and they still fk up.

I now Bitch** are going to start bashing and hating but its the truth and that civic is still running

i could get on ebay now and likely find 10+ "JDM turbo's" for sale by 10+ different sellers, branded as 10+ different brands. so your telling me that all of those turbos could possibly be just fine? nay. ill bite, its possible i mayyyyyyyyyy get lucky and purchase the ONE turbo that will last longer than 3000 miles, but im not a gambling man. i go to Atlantic city to party and have fun, my money goes to drinks not tables.

IMO I'd say 10-15% chance you get a turbo that will last longer than 3,000 miles

I had one and it ran great. I had mine and took it off to upgrade after a year.. It was meant to be a temp fix but I liked it. My buddie ran his for 2 yrs daily. Mine ran good enough to break off a 450 horse cobra, gsxr600, f4i, and many others. But I am amazed I didn't blow it up. I was doing 15+psi
