Pennzoil ain't what she used to be, and that's a good thing.

i personally i change my oil about every 1k miles and i dont drive the car often, so i was looking to change my winter oil, the rotella t 0w40 for a 10w30 the rotella at the moment might have 600-800 miles on it, but jusy need to do the winter to summer switch.

i loved running eneos and amsoil but the oil is really expensive to justify changing every 1k miles, chaging it that often i just like to feel comfortable that i have good clean oil. but those brands are just too expensive to do that with, although they are good oils

Every 1K? You could use your $$ more logically IMO. And you don't drive that much. And its synthetic too? I change mine every 3K on an turbo engine. Are you racing?

We are in the Turbo section. I find it hard to believe there are many guys concerned about gas mileage..... 12 mpg compared to 13 mpg?

A thicker oil will also mask issues if seals are starting to get a little weak.

I would recommend get oil analysis completed instead of randomly choosing mileage amounts. Blackstone Labs will send you sample kits for free, and they will analyze your used oil. They can tell you how many more miles you could run it, and they can also tell you quantities of materials found in your oil (lead, copper, etc that could be wear on bearings or hints of anti-freeze which could be a head gasket issue).

Also, it is worth mentioning that oil has probably* changed in the 20 years since our FSM's were written. *I am not a petroleum engineer.

My $0.02.

Both rotellas are pretty stout. I like the synth 5w40. Cheap for a synth. Good year round.
