If you don't try you won't know.....
Here's a dyno graph from my old T2 3071R setup.
GT3071R with S4's at 14psi.
Why T2 you say?Because the 3071r was the biggest turbo i could fit in there while using the stock gti-r exhaust manifold.Bolt on & turn up the boost.I had a gti-r t28 on there just before that at a maxed out 16psi.

Have you ever maxxed out your boost 2.0 bar gauge just to see if the motor can handle it.I have....& the motor still runs fine today.
Bring on all the people who will say otherwise about those T2 setup.

that is very impressive for a t2 3071r. What ex housing you running? I am running 26psi on my 3076r, and my maf is reading over 5V heh heh. I will soon have to turn down the boost and get more revs. Inj duty is 100+%. I haven't gotten it to dyno yet.

finally you chime in. I know you not the only one to get near the 500whp mark with that turbo.

At least cortrim gave 2nd hand numbers.

If this were my thread I'd have torn you all a new one.

I did not want to put Kleensleeper out there. Yes I can only give second hand number until I get my ve-t put together. I never ran over 15psi on the dyno with my gt28rs so I have no idea what it makes at 18psi even though I have run it that high.

Not only do you have to worry about getting power to the ground to have a fast car, but

one main thing a majority of people seem to forget when they talk about a "fast car" is

the power to weight it has, yea some people might have 600whp in a 3,000lb car but

little ol Johnny here with his "so last year 400 whp" in say a 2,200lb car WILL make the

600whp guy cry a tear or two. I see no problem Johnny with that 18g getting close if not

dead on to that power your looking towards, good luck man.

I am helping a friend build a 95 240sx se which will be running alot of boost on a built kade, with a 3076wg t2 flanged turbo. I am gonna say we will easily clear 400-450+whp. But the extra displacement helps out with that as well.

Another friend did close to the same build we are after but with the gt2871r and laid down 370whp on a superflow dyno. Car was damn fast for a street car and did 11.7's on street tires at the strip if i remember correctly.

I am going to be running a smal frame turbo as well this year but it is an ihi ball bearing vf34 which is pretty much the equivalent of the smaller framed gt2871r. On a friends sohc ka powered 240sx this turbo made 17psi by 3k even with a log manifold.

Huge turbos arent everyones cup of tea in my opinion. I would much rather have boost come on at 3k rather than 4-5k. But i like to have a broad powerband without having to rev the crap out of the car to make boost and power. Why run a 600hp capable turbo at 400whp? I see so many people doing it and its just plain dumb in my opinion. Most people would have much more fun with a turbo that is properly sized to the engine. Rather than sized just to say you have a huge turbo on top of a poor flowing log manifold, and the ability to break trannys like a dsm.

I agree with Jon .... , but with all the supporting mods , and a built gearbox , I think the larger framed turbos can be rewarding as well ..

Agreed but depending on what you are setting the car up for the larger framed turbos may not suit your needs.

By all means when you want maximum hp the larger framed turbos are they way to go. Or if you are looking to build a drag car, or all out highway terror a properly set up larger framed turbo car will tear us 2871 guys a new one. I just dont see the point in people running say an sc61 or 35r at 6-10psi, you wouldnt even be in the proper efficency rage for those turbos. Its more the honda guys than us nissan guys but there are some that insist on a huge turbo with small boost #'s.
