p11 tranny cryo treated and shot peened
My p11 tranny has started to grind in second so I have a buddy that has one that has been cyrotreated and shot peened. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with it, I know its suppose to make your tranny stronger but just wanted some opioins on it.

Also another question can the lsd and non lsd p11 trannys hold the same power? Jgy told me the non lsd could only handle about 250 which seems low.

The 1999 P11 tranny is different. The 2K+ tranny has the different gearing.

Depending on the price of the tranny he's offering you, I'd take it. No ill effects from shotpeen or cryotreating the gearstack.

The 99s came with the RS5F32X (A or V depending on LSD), then in 2000 they started using the RS5F70X (A or V).

For some reason, if you are using the 'junkyard search' hierarchy (like on car-part.com) to search for 2001 models, it asks if you want 'thru 08/00' or 'from 09/00' (manufacturing dates). I'm not sure if they made any minor changes, but regardless, anything from 2000-2002 should be the newer style.

id leave it the way it is.

unless your making 500whp theres no need to shot peen and cyro treat the p11 box.

even so id much rather replace a stock p11 box then a expensive built p11 box.

i blew two stock se-r trannys. got fith gear on a shot peened and cyrotread welded axle and case se-r tranny. now im running a p11 box that i blew the diff on after six 6 months of running it.. swapped a diff in from one of my blown se-r trannys installed a phantom grip lsd kid and have been good ever since.

the 01-02 box is the one you want. it is the stronger gear stack and case and better gearing and diff.

stratton.

thanks for the info on that swiss, I think I can get it for about $650 but I have to figure out if its lsd or not. I do have 2 other questions. Swiss where you posted that pic of car parts.com is locking differential the same as lsd? And what about buying a transmission rebuild kit from autozone that come with the synchros, it cost $380, anybody used one of those?

I don't know anything about the quality of their kit. You could check with GregV and see his price. You may find it's pretty reasonable for the Nissan kit. If not, ask him if he knows anything about the AutoZone kits. Greg is a straight shooter, so if he says stay away, he's not just trying to sell you his parts.

K thanks, I reread of coheeds thread and he said this

If someone can verify the number of teeth on the B15 final drive, then this may work for the B15 trans as well. The QG and P11 have the same final drive. Same exact gear stacks.

So do I need to swap the final drive from my p11 to the QG18 stack or just take the whole stack from the QG18 and put it in my tranny?

no I haven't done it before but I understand where your coming from, Im even questioning wheather or not I can actually do it myself. But there are a lot of things I didn't know how to do until I bought my SR. Besides best way too learn is by experience . So morgan whats your price offer on it, I may just buy the one my buddy has for sell and sell this one.
