so then the better way to go would be to put the ve head on the det block with ve oil pump. that setup with head studs granted that you changed the pistons and rods should be able to put out 600+whp? if you mill out the ve head and intake mani to make sure it flows better im sure it should be able to. anyone say different?

forbidden, that would be a real good solution, but the builder has to deal with getting oil to the extra oil passage in the VE head (maybe there are more than one?) and that's something many people like to avoid dealing with.

Yes, the engine will run without the girdle. Girdles are necessary for very high rpm or very high power outputs. The fact that the DE engine has one really is a bit overkill (although the stock rev limit is a bit on the high side for the time).


if your already getting the rotating assembly balanced getting the caps done is not a big deal. I will check the clearance before assembly.

I have put in de girdle and main caps in ve motors with no problems, the only thing you have to check is the clearance between the girdle and crank(on 4 counter weight) by cap number three you have to shave a little from the sides of the girdle, the counter weight of the 4 counter weight crankshaft comes real close and when it expands due to heat it rubs.

So the main caps on the VE are also machined on the top? I guess I assumed wrong.

No. My motor is a VE block with a DE 8 CW crank with a DE girdle.
