Avenir swap help plz!
sup everyone. finally got everything i need to swap my motor after waiting quite sometime lol. well motor is out, the new motor is pretty much ready to go with fresh seals and hoses.

i got w10 avenir that is going into a 96 B14

only two things pretty much stopping me from putting the motor in.

#1
the distributor wont go in correctly. the motor is set to TDC, rotor is set to #1 but wont slip all the way in. it'll go all the way in if i mount it upside down. do i have to mount it upside down?

#2
there is a brass ring close to the part where the flywheel bolts up to. from what i know, that brass ring i believe is just to center the flex plate for an auto tranny. do i need need to take that ring out? I've been trying to take it out but it won't budge at all. my pops, 2 friends, and i spent about 2 hours trying to take it out but NOTHING!!! project car mag says you should take it off, but dang so a mission to. any tips on how to take it off?

all help will be very very appreciated!

thanks,
Mark

Not sure how your having distributor issues. Which one are you using? There has been a few different ones through out the years.

You do know you can by hand rotate the distributor flap that goes into the cam? It only goes in one way, so rotate it until the glove fits the hand.

Good luck with the flex plate bolt, it's a royal pain, but it must come out! Better get it out while the engine is not in the car too.

I got it by heating, hitting, drilling, heating, hitting, drilling. Be careful not to screw up your crank.

You shouldn't have any issues with distro, just play with the position of the flap that the CAM spins.

I did the same, just don't over heat it and you'll be fine. Mine is still kicking

Are you being sarcastic? The transmission wont go in otherwise or good luck using the clutch alignment tool that's actually designed for your motor..

I never messed with that thing, i duno if it came out or not when I pulled the flexplate off. My alignment tool fits and so does my tranny.

Nope. Im being serious. Call greg v and ask him about it. The transmission fork wont even reach to get to it. The alignment tool fits in it. There shouldnt be any problem putting on the transmission. Trust me, ALL my sr motor have it. Its just a pain in the ass to take that off for nothing.
