In your case its the widest mark of them all (13-15*), the last mark to the right is 20*. Sounds like you have it @ 20* if you can't get the idle to come down. Put it in timing mode and turn the distributor and see if the idle begins to change.

I called only to let you know, launch control is a go and a/f is right back to being on the money....

Sweet! What did you change? I'm definitely gonna have to give that a whirl. For now, however, I'll settle for a good idle and trying out boost!

I think I'm going to have to get myself a fan switch... for some reason my fan isn't coming on, I keep having to run it manually thru Conzult and it's a pain. I'm also a little worried that I'm going to have to yank my stupid turbo back off too.. I'm leaking coolant at the banjo in the block. I have tightened it as much as I can and it continues to leak. Brand new washers and a brand new bolt and I can't get it to quit leaking. Grr. Oh well, I'll just keep working on it.

Finally!!! I've got everything running right! It's still hunting at idle, from 1000-1400rpms, but I think this may be from the S4's??? I've only turned the boost up to about 12psi, but it runs like a scalded dog and it's pulling the wheels loose at 45mph rolling in 3rd! It feels so frickin good to boost, and that disco spools like you can't imagine!! thanks guys for all your help!

Thanks. Still have some bugs to hunt down, but it feels great to drive it! Good luck with yours. I think at some point we all at our turbo cars!

glad to hear you got all that stuff sorted out man, yeah that aux air regulator is just a pain. Ill be ditching it when i do the intake mani swap. Yeah those t28 size turbos spool soo fast. Thats what i miss about mine, But i much more enjoy just the overall sick power even though i dont make any power till 4k or so, haha. Yeah for me to rip the tires loose in 3rd i have to be doing about 55-60 and punch it. Then its off the rev limiter haha.

Boost is soo much fun though and yeah i dont think i could ever go back to N/A, I tried VE for a bit but that just want fast enough even though i was dead even with my buddies de+t at 9psi in his nx2000.

Glad to hear its all worked out for you now. Yeah the S4 cams need to idle at 1k for it be fairly smooth, If not they will lope pretty good. My idle hunts between 800-1000 when warmed up and even then its lopey. I love it especially with 3" open exhaust from a t3 turbo. lol

Enjoy the boost again and dont get too anxious to up it soo quick. Enjoy it a bit. lol. You definetly have the fuel setup to go pretty high in power.

what did you do to fix it?

Well, it's not totally fixed yet. It's sort of like everytime I start the car it acts a little different. Mostly, the idle is still pretty high, and hunts from 1000-1400rpms. It's running a little bit rich under boost (about 10.9afr) and the egt's are a little cool. I have eliminated all of the boost leaks, fixed the bad ground on the MAF, got the timing straight, and some other little stuff. I have had a couple of times that the ecu has thrown a crank angle sensor code, so I sorta think i might swap out my dist and see how that goes. I don't really know what might cause the idle to be like it is, and I'm considering all possibilities, lol!

have you tried swapping the idle air control motors or cleaning yours out, Ive seen that be the most common problem for a very bad idle other than vac leaks or leaks after the maf.

No, I haven't, but my IACV is brand new, but I guess I shouldn't rule it out. I don't have an extra to try... anyone wanna hook me up? However, disconnecting the IACV does nothing to the idle... so I guess it could be an issue.

I took it for a drive yesterday, and I datalogged it. Anyone wanna have a look at it for me? I'm not totally sure what the values I'm seeing should be on these voltages.
