We don't mention that "V" word around here

Haha, anyways, like what everyone else is saying... it all depends on what you want to do. Someone earlier said that you want something not too mild, and not too aggressive... I agree. Get something too aggressive and you will run into problems, get something too mild and you wont get the power potential.

Is your GTIR going to be a street car or a track car?

Just get the BC STG 3's with S/R kit and be done with it. The alternative is JWT S4's. You don't need S/R for S4's, and they're drop in so you don't need cam gears either.

All in all, they're roughly the same price if you go the BC route with the required additional pieces, or the JWT's as drop in.

I can tell you one things certain, my STG 3's are NASTY above 4K and compliment the 30r perfectly.

I will say cams are amazing on big turbo sr's. Its a must have if going big power, they just make you hold on for dear life.

Since only Dennis realized, I'll repeat his statement, BC Stg 3's and JWT S4's will not work in a mechanical valvetrain....

thanks bro, i thought so. my buddy snapped a cam around the cam gear at 7k rpm on his gti-r, thumbs down for BC for saying they will work, hope they take care of him.

yeah I don't believe the S4s will work on a gtir, you can only use the S3s, Im haven't went with the cams upgrade yet but still thinking about it.

i think even a cam that is mild but has greater lift and duration over stock will gain power, different cams for different setups. i dont really feel there is such thing as too aggressive of cam, not if your setup calls for aggressive lift and duration. on the other hand i would just choose a cam that best suits your power goals.
