Thread: brian crower cams any good

K so the S4s wont work? I has heard that they didn't make s4s for a gtir. So some S3s from a regular sr20det will work in my gtir as well..they are the same? Is gtir bad, I thought they were pretty hardcore motors!

they are, but just live the VE's, things like cams cost more for your motor than per se DE's and DET's...the head design is different

I dropped in a set of bc stage 2's with no springs and retainers or cam gears on my boosted setup and they are great. Maybe if you searched you would have found my thread about my results. This was only about 2 weeks ago still waiting to dyno again to see my gains.

but with the BC cams, one should use JWT cam gears correct?
dialing in stg 3 cam should net you more power than S4's I am assuming

trust me I get on the computer hours every night researching stuff for my car can't catch everything.. As far as i understand the bc2 cams are direct replacement over stock cams, but the stage 3's take a lot more money to get them in. Yeah your right crap is way more expensive for my car, heck a power fc is like double for my car. lol

You will be fine w/ the stg 2's, and you will get good power gains.

I personally only went w/ stg 3's b/c a buddy of mine (Jen36) has stg 2's and we try to 1 up one another. stg 3's make more power and I heard are supposed to have a loppier idle (which is something I might like)

so just drop in the stage 2s like sneaky did and I should be good to go without the spring retainer kit?

The Gtir is a roller rocker motor so thw cams are different. You can get S3R's from JWT or cams from Tomei whicj I believe are for sale in the turbo classifieds.

nismotuner had some Tomei but he sold em before I could get em, I think Im just gonna go with the bc stage 2, just put em in and go and they are a steal at 285
