i bumped my plug gap 1 last time feels really solid, bumped it up to .45 took it on a few highway runs and it feels really solid and smoothe. dont think i will go any larger tho

also i must say that the idle and response is from what i feel much greater with the larger gap than from comparing the same tune/psi to the larger gap the throttle response feels stronger and more instant on the larger gap....also with larger gaps the fuel is burnt more cleaner....i think for kicks i am going to index my plugs to see how that works out, thew whole indexing thing makes sense to me having ths park exposed to the fuel more directly, weather or not there is a differnece i donno, but worth a try no harm.

i will say the only draw bakc from having .40/.45 is that the start ups are slightly harder have to give it slight throttle, however i could go into the aem and adjust the injector crank tables to correct it... but i dont think that is much of a drawback from the benifits i personally think that the larger gap is making but thats just me

put mine at .30 and it feels ok to what it use to feel. going for highway pulls when i get off

Oh boy I wish I had saved my old dyno graphs. I had the gap set at .038" and did a pull on high boost. I was making over 10lb ft of torque consistently across the entire band, and more in some places, but the spark blew out at 5000rpm.

If it would have kept going I would have made over 460whp :o

I gapped it down and the torque dropped a bit, and small adjustments have had little effect on any dynos since. Dropping from .038 to .028 made a pretty good difference on the dyno though.

Just to share... many are still looking for this valuable info.

0.032" @ 15 psi with JWT C1 started to missfire underload

I will use new set regapped at 0.028" following your recommendations.

That is very interesting. I always noticed my turbo car felt better at higher gap until it started bowing the spark out.

I am curious about the reasons for this, perhaps more rapid combustion because the ignition point is larger and thus spreads faster for a more complete burn.

I was running .035" side gapped at 8psi. Cranked it up to 15 and it didn't like that at all. Got it down to .030" and is fine now.

Same experience here. Larger gap, smoother idle , car felt more put together. Yes I know this thread is old

I run .028-.030 on my ve-t after getting spark blow out at 12psi. I was able to run .036 on my det at 18psi with no issues. I'm using a ve dist. now so I think that's why I needed to gap down, my det was using the de external coil and that sucker would arc out of the plug wire 2-3in when cranked. It zapped the shit out of me one time.
