which water pump to use on turbo build
so i am building a vet, and i took apart the det motor and ve motor. Now i am debating using a ve water pump, the det water pump or a roller rocker water pump. I have all these water pumps laying around, they all have the same part number 53J on them. The one that move with out any binding or feeling of flat spots is the ve water pump. I am leaning toward that one, what are some of your imputs

cheers

If you go to Autozone they have the new water pumps that all look like the VE pump. I have one on my car now and it has done me very proud. Looks and performs just like the factory one.

Be careful though and look at the pump before you buy it. I have seen one looks like it is cast iron instead of aluminum. Don't buy that one. Make sure it is the alum one.

i have all 3 water pumps at home from blown motors, i was just wondering i measured the fins and they all the same size. I was just going by the way they spun, just by feeling and easy to turn them and the one that turned the with less resistance i was going to pick that.

cheers

A new water pump should be fairly tight, but should spin smoothly (If that makes sense). The looser they are the closer they are to being worn out. I'd spend the money on a new pump.
