Turbo timer programming
So I just put in my turbo timer, and it's the first time i've ever had one of these... It seems like it has a million settings that I won't ever use. However, the manual says that it has a mode that automatically calculates the countdown time based on the rpms that the car reaches. it seems like this would be a good setting to use, but it doesn't give any place to hook it up to a tach signal. How in the world would it ever figure the car's rpms? Just wondering...

How do you guys run your turbo timers? Just leave it in countdown mode? Or do you actually use some of the stopwatch and whatnot? I just don't see the purpose in most of it.

IMO the thing will be able to tell that the RPMs are changing, but you will have to tell it maybe 3000 and rev the car that high, and then like 7500rpm. My guess is it should be able to tell this from voltage alone.

Honestly unless the car is a pizza delivery car (that would be a good reason to have one there isn't a lot of need for a turbo timer unless you are hitting boost and then parking the car. If you just like the extra lights and fun toys and things and are dead set on using it you could just let the car idle for a minute. Or if it is an option, setting it so it idles a minute only after you hit boost, and just turns the car straight off when you are just driving around town.

I am with you there, I just figured that since I could get one for super cheap and since I pretty much always hit boost in it, it wouldn't hurt. I guess I can see it calculating revs off voltage, but it still seems weird. I probably will just switch the turbo timer off half the time and only let it run when I've been on it and feel a need. Who knows, it might be short lived in my car.
