I have 3" on my T28 and I wouldn't do it any other way. I don't run a J-pipe though. You couldn't pay me to put one of those on a car.

What do you mean? What are you using then?

His downpipe is integrated into the "J-Pipe" which should be called the o2 housing... He runs the exhaust housing straight to the downpipe, so it's all one piece, IIRC.

I don't have pics up yet (damn it) but I bought a flange that bolts to the turbo exhaust outlet and made my own elbow + downpipe combo with a divorced wastegate pipe. This is the basic idea:

Mine is very similar.

Therew is nothing wrong with running the OEM J pipe off the T28 to a 3 inch.
It will be fine.
Most people that run it from a flange run a external wastegate.

Besides that you wont see a diffrence.

Have you ever looked inside one of those things? Have you ever payed attention to the angle of it?

I know tons of people have to run them because they are really the only thing that clears the A/C condenser or they can't afford a better solution, but I wouldn't say there's nothing wrong with it. It's another flow disaster.

BEN ^ Most people on this forum run very mild set ups, T25 , T28 T3 etc,

Ive looked inside and have had several turbo set ups , never any issues.
very few have fully built motors with over 5k of coin in them, So unless your building a dyno queen making 500+ hp that the slight bend in the j pipe will make a diffrence.
Most have mild turbo applications that yield 200-350 hp.

So He would be fine running a 3 inch from a stock j pipe

Yah he'll be fine, I know. It's not just high HP cars that benefit from better design though. Get rid of a couple of bad restrictions and your T25 at 7 psi makes 255 WHP instead of 225 WHP. That's all I'm getting at.
