I didn't read the whole thing, so forgive me if this has been answered before.

1.) Did you pressure test this from where the intake filter goes?

2.) Have you checked for a leaky injector?

3.) Is your MAF wired correctly?

4.) Did you clean the IACV and that other valve under the manifold?

When i did my swap i was having the same problem and #4 was the culprit and i also re-grounded the MAF... But i think he did that not sure??

We have in fact pressure tested the whole system. Car drives fine, doesn't idle.

He hasn't checked for leaky injectors, which I have suggested numerous times.

I'm pretty sure his MAF is wired correctly, as they have checked it time and time again. MAF voltages are correct according to Scotty.

He removed all items (IACV/AAC, IAV, ETC) from his perfectly running DE, and put them on this DE.

When you say you are flooring it is the pedal literally as far as it will go? I am only asking because it is a test listed in the FSM ( I forget which it was though). The car should not be able to start floored, at least with the OE ECU (according to the FSM for a 91).

....Oh wait are you saying that it starts normal and then you have to gas it to keep it running?

No, he has to floor it to start (opening the TB while cranking.) The same way you would clear a flood. I don't know about the 91, but reading the FSM states that if you can start the car like this when it's cold, you should check the AAC (it's highly unlikely that he has 2 defective AAC's if the DE started fine). I still call MAF or fuel pressure/injection issue.

Ah ok it was a shot

tek if i had a leaky injecter i would not hold pressure in my gauge which i do. and the pressure stays up there for a long time after the car is shut off. scotty amd calum have determine that i need to change my chips. they have a bad burn on them which is making the fans turn on as i start the car putting my ecu om default mode. im changing my maf to a e60 like calum suggested and reburning my chips with a diffrent bin that he provided and having scotty work his magic with setting everything else

Yep, he has a bad chip burn. This causes the radiator fans to TURN ON (as an indicator) at startup & puts the ECU into default mode. Thus, the car has problems starting..

We have burned another set of chips and will install them today. I now also have a default DET chip set as a backup if needed. Hopefully, we can get the car purring correctly tonight ! !
