its a pair of running legs haha adds a couple horses. try it sometime.

Neways not soo good news about the build. Ive had a mishap with the install of the gtir oil pump. At first greg sent me the wrong pulley, no big deal, so i got the pulley in. This was his instructions for the install. Install the stock oil pump drive/spacer then install the small gtir spacer. Well needless to say once i got the pulley in and installed the spacer and pulley torqued it down to spec the crank would no longer turn over. So i pulled the pulley back off to find that the small spacer i got from greg was not going into the oil pump housing it was a fully round spacer and it was pressing up against the flat portions of the oil pump really hard enough to when i pulled that small spacer back out it was dented bad on the other side where it had been pressing against the oil pump. So i cut the spacer to where it would sit nicely inside the oil pump and whalla the crank spun freely and the oil pump was being turned.

My only worry with that was that i may have damaged the oil pump because of the torque of the crank bolt on it before i mean it was enough to dent that aluminum spacer about halfway through the metal when the crank bolt was torqued before. I was just hoping that it didnt cause damage to the pump cuz i know it could have. Well needless to say i got the motor in, cranked the engine over for about 20 seconds and saw no oil pressure build on my guage. so i gave it a test fire for about 5-7 seconds and again no oil pressure so i shut if off. I took my feed line to the turbo off to make sure it wasnt getting oil and sure enough it was dry, so i took a pump and feed 1 quart of oil pumped back through the oil feed line coming off the oil filter housing. This should have very well primed the pump and system. So i give it another go cranked it over for about 20 seconds still nothing, test fired it for 5-7 seconds and still nothing. I knew right then i was in trouble.

I pulled the pan today and i cant see any visible damage but the pump is definetly not creating suction at all, not one bit, put my thumb over the hold and turned the motor over by hand and yeah not a bit of suction, its not even trying. Im pretty pissed off right now. Bad instructions that causes a crapload of heartache.

Indeed Greg v's gtir pulley and spacer needs to be installed as follows. Before even putting the pump on the aluminum spacer needs to go on and up against the crank chain drive gear. Then the oil pump then stock spacer goes on. This keeps that spacer out of the oil pump drive but still gives the pulley its correct spacing. Bad info is all i can say for now. I even double and triple checked with him on it. But the only way to make it work on the other side is to cut it to the shape of the pump gear so that it goes in properly.

Neways ill keep you guys updated and take some pics of the engine in the bay.

Greg is the man, i was not even expecting to get an answer until tommorrow after i emailed him and within 5 minutes he called me to take care of the issue. Apparently the newer designed spacers will allow you to put them on the outside of the stock pumpdrive/spacer between the pulley and stock spacer on the vvl pump but not on the gtir one come to find out through me. You can put the spacer he provides on the other side of the stock pump drive between the pump drive and crank chain gear for now, He plans on doing a redesign on the next batch of spacers to cut the flat portions to allow use on the outside of the stock spacer.

He is gonna send me a vvl oil pump he just got in. He has always taken care of me with anything that has come up and parts orders. His customer service is above and beyond. But now that the issue is known this should keep any other mishaps from coming up. Oh well. Will get the new pump on wednesday so by next weekend it should be good to go with a nice new vvl pump and pulley.

Thanks again Greg you are the man.

Pics to come.

looks like a decent set-up ready to make some power, but don't care for how you did the upper radiator hose and the gauges look chincy.....IMO.
Keep us updated on the numbers your making. What do you do for your break-in? Do you do the 500-1000 miles, or just head straight to the dyno? Heard lots of arguments for both, just curious how you do it.....

lol the guages are a just for now thing, i might do an aluminum plate when all said and done but for now i dont really care if things are pretty, hahaha functional yes, pretty ahhh not so much. lol

Upper radiator hose has an aluminum crossover double wrapped in heat wrap, it doesnt get hot at all. The car ran nice and cool before and shouldnt have any problems staying cool now.

were doing ours almost the same way, u thought about flipping the civic rad around so the hoses point forward and go around the front of your turbo, should be plenty of room
