Need advice on aftermarket 86.5mm 9.5:1 pistons.
I got a deal on an engine with oil consumption. It was this or a $600 unknown engine from a local salvage yard.

I'm going to rebuild the engine and in the process have the cylinders bored and honed (reason for oil consumption is unknown at current time). While I'm at it I figure I'll go with aftermarket pistons. I'm really looking for 86.5mm pistons with a 9.5:1 compression ratio. This is proving hard to find. I can easily find 86.5mm pistons with a 9.0:1 compression ratio. This is acceptable but I'd really like 9.5:1 and this is why I'm making this thread. I'm inexperienced when it comes to buying pistons.

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I might find the pistons I'm interested in. If you know a company I should stay away from that's helpful too. Which pistons would you buy in my situation?

Nevermind, I think I've decided on a $600 salvage yard motor.

Useless thread.

Nevermind, he is going with the 600 dollar unknown, no need for pistons. Plus 9.0:1 is a better choice, but Ben doesn't listen to me, and that's why he's in the situation he's in.

9.0 CR is better for more boost, but I personally would also stick to 9.5 CR. 8.5 CR sucks for low end .

Ben, why don't you get a JDM motor?

I like lowports too much (and don't want 10.0:1 CR).

Why not settle for 9:1 CR pistons?

I would settle for them, but I was assuming pistons were a lot cheaper than they are. I had them mixed up with rods.

I can't afford to build a motor.
