Ya, I've read that a bigger tire helps with grip..

yeah, I apologize I meant 205/45/16... The wheels that I changed to were about 4 lbs heavier... but it made a slight difference.

thats because its basically simulating longer gears... yes it can help.

when i was turbo i gave up with trying to get traction on the street. i just ran some all seasons that were cheap and would last forever. then at the track ran my m&h 23.5x15 slicks and loved them.

I was checking out some suspension upgrades you can do to control grip and it seems you'd get more luck going w/one of those rather than get a bigger wheel/tire.

I'm sure Mike got those for fairly cheap at the time. You need to get something wider though with the power you are making. Hard part is squeezing it in.

OK so if I stay 15" I should go with the 215/50?
and If I go 17" I should go with a 215?
I had 205/40 17's on my 95 and I hated the ride quality, the tire is soo skinny!

that first number is the section width which is the widest point on the tire, and doesn't exactly mean the tire is going to have a wider tread besides I really doubt an extra centimeter of tread width is going to make much difference anyway
just look at the difference of the tread width between a decent tire the azenis, and a regular crap tire the ziex

I run 205/35 17s and its not that bad. The ride is a little rough, but you should expect that from something that thin. But wheel spin is not bad. I'm sure if I went with 220s or 225 it would be better, I might do that with the next set.
