I never really thought of the Rev factor, which seems to be in the VE's favor as well. I'm just wondering why the RWD SR crew havent jumped all over the VE head swap like us FWD SR people; Is it much more difficult in a RWD conversion compared to FWD?

There is no hope for the DE head.

The VE head beats it everywhere

I was just saying you can rev a DE head out if done right.

Aside from the solenoids and distributor, a custom intake manifold needs to be made. There's a bunch of other little things.

Basically, people don't have the time/space/tools/money/knowledge/experience to do it. If they did, we'd all be rocking crazy hybrid motors.

You can make a old school DE head rev to 10,000 RPMs plus with no problem.

I have made the list already of what needs to be done and have done it before as that what was done to the 9.4 sec 2.2L DET motor that when into the 200sx SER Race car. All without Rocker Arm stoppers.

Also MAZWORX has done it also on there 9.2 Sec 240sx

I never said the DE head is better or even close to the VE head.

I only said you could get it to rev to 10,000 RPMS no problem because

( lonewolf ) said "if your looking to make big power, its going to be at high revs where the DET engines valvetrain is inferior"

Getting a DE head to stay together at high RPMs is no problem and has been that way for over 12 years. Most people just dont know.

There is nothing confusing there.

VE head for the win.

VE Head > DE Head

When it is time to build your Turbo motor.

Dont even think DET.

Give me your DET and I will sell it for you and build a VE-T.

The VE head will be incorporated in my swap, I've heard enough.. I really wanna do it as its not done very often in a RWD configuration and I think it will work better for the power Im aiming for! Also Im thinking if it goes well I may build an all motor version next (230hp all motor in a S13/S14:bigthumbup

I their any disadvantages to going VE head on a RWD SR.. The fittment of the distributor and CAS as well as oiling the head seem to be the biggest challenge.. Does it bolt to the RWD block without any fabrication, will the valves clear the pistons? Just a few questions that I need to understand before moving forward..

If your going the all motor route you should put VE pistons into the motor so you can run bigger cams.

i am nearly finished my ve head into a s13, and am about to start a whole fwd ve sr into a ke70. One will be na and the other will be boosted.

if you are going all out on over bore and so forth like it seems you are, then ve head is the only way imo. Sure you can get the s14 head to flow 275 cfm easy enough, but a ve will do that standard with the right head. And will probably cost the same as all that port work. Then if you do decide to do port work...well some huge figures are possible. Plus there are also many other benefits to the ve heads.

The after market support for the ve head is its biggest deterrent but a few companies are jumping on board now and i dont think it will be too long till some good turbo grinds are made.

plus if you are dealing with mazworxs, well they know their way around a ve head....hell they have run a mid 7 with one

anyway to answer your questions, valves will clear fine, i am running 8.5:1 cp det forgies in mine sor they will come to 9.3:1, and they will still clear. Masworxs has some ve turbo pistons for sale now too with heeps of clearance.

yeah she will bolt up fine just minor mods that you have mentioned will need to be addressed. Its not all that hard really.
