on this motor, if u keep the afr and timing in check, ull be good to go. at least from what i found. the only reason i havent gone to 20psi is cause at 15psi my maf is reading 85% air flow....i might take it up to 17-18 to see how it reads then...

I'm inclined to agree with this however combustion chamber design has a lot to do with it I think; newer almost always being better.

I will say it again. A 10:1 DE with the tuning options available nowadays will perform great and pretty much take anything you throw at it with the basic turbo kits most people are using.

No reason to get over technical on this matter.I remember the myth from back in the days of not boosting of 7-10 psi. LOL!! I for one threw 16-20 psi at my 10:1 after the motor took 100-125 shot of nitrous for more than 3 years. It's all in tuning.

Also if you look at most high HP turbo builds compressions is almost always over 10:1.

I think the heads on the UK motors are slightly different. Possibly cleaned up a bit?

I know the one I had I confirmed the sodium filled valves and larger cam on the intake side. I measured the lift against a USDM highport cam with digital calipers and my bud duplicated the measurement independently.

One thing I will say is the piston design is kind of antiquated by todays standards. If you threw a modern set of forged 10: slugs in there from say CP (or whoever) I think you could boost the piss out of it. The only thing is at that point why not throw a set of 10:1 pistons in a DET because the UK motor (mine at least) lacked the oil squirters.

thats what i was thinking but they are next to impossible to find used and brand new is a nice piece of change!

Not too sure on the heads being cleaned up , but from what i know they have a bit better of an intake cam, and sodium filled valves.

Oil squirters arent all they are cracked up to be. Its juast a bit of extra insurance. Either way if your tuning is bad or engine is gonna blow up oil squirters arent going to help you out. there have been plenty of people on de's without oil squirters making alot of hp with no issues.

I would have to agree with using 10:1 aftermarket pistons. I may do this depending on which turbo i go with once i build my engine. i loved the way my old 10:1 drove with a gt2871r.

My B13 has a 10:1 in it with a BB T25 on it. I'm running 7 lbs. and I have no issues. It runs pretty strong. I want to turn the boost up to 10 and I need to get an adjustable FPR. Calum tuned mine pretty rich though. I think most of it is because he tuned it for 4 bar and I had him tune it for 10 lbs i think.

Like Ashton said, just keep the heat down in the head. Backpreassure is bad news bears for turbo cars.
