The tranny that I speak of is a 2002 P11 G20T tranny with 67,000 miles on it.

Does the p11t trans have the same gear ratios as the p10t trans? If they do that would be one nice set up to have.. If I ever get the cash I'd go that rout and convert my p10 to hydro clutch. Creaky/broken cables suck.

Not as cranky now.. this clod snowy weather is getting to me.

different gear ratios. Not as long as the P10 and not as short as the B15. So Kind of right in the middle of the 2 iirc. If youre making any real power, 1st gear will be useless anyway

Im running an 02 P11t Trans converted t cable. No problems/complaints here. Definitely a notchier feeling, better built trans.

If he gets a P10 tranny it will break with turbo. Its not the HP that breaks it is the torque. Anyone who has had a turbo car with any of the early trannys knows they will not hold up. So you buy another one and another.

$400 x 3 = $1200 with alot of work and time wasted. Also fewer trannys for the community.

$1200 P11 tranny and it is done and over with, will not break.

I have a P11 tranny full converted to cable with my clutch braket on it to stop missed and grinding gears. $1300.

Actually I have a few of them. They grow on trees here is S FL, but the P10T ones dont.

I disagree, I ran my stock 91 trans for almost 7 years boosted and it is still going strong in another car now. weld the case, run the heavy shockproof, run solid motor mounts and ES bushing sup front to reduce wheel hop and the trans will hold up very well. You simply can't dump it in 3rd at WOT with a turbo, so work around that best you can.

Most of the cases of broken trans were on the track or drag strip which means very aggressive driving for extended periods and most daily drivers simply won't see that kind of abuse.

Do what you want though!

Its Ok to disagree but your experience does not hold water with the real world.

My friends SER with 360WHP 330LB ft of torque has busted 2 early style trannys in less than 2 months.

It is a proven fact that the 91-99 tranny cant take any type of power.

It is also a proven fact that the p10-B15 tranny can take 500 WHP with no problem. Tested by many of my friends down here in FL and across the country.

You are spreading information that does not hold true 95% of time.

The olds school tranny is not designed to take big torque in third gear which is one reason why the gears seprate from eachother under load.

I have come up with many a part to stop early tranny 3 rd gear damage. Welding the back of the case has nothing to do with the problem and putting in solid mounts have nothing to do with the 3 rd gear problem. All that does is stop the case from cracking.

When the WHP goes up you will see. When your car runs low 12s or faster then tell me the same thing.

My car has seen 400+ HP for over 7 years, it was Jay Hassingers original car. It still has the same stock tranny that was drag raced time and time again. When I did my last clutch/motor change I added one of Miko's parts for added insurance. I think it's a combination of technique and clutch combinations. I think what Miko is trying to say is, if you want to gaurantee zero problems the P11/B15 tranny is the way to go. If i ever break a tranny thats the route I will take, but for now.. my stock tranny has outlasted 4 engines.

I know when Jay Hass had that car he broke a tranny or 2.

I have broken 1 tranny in my life and that was at the track under NOS.

We made a few 9 sec runds with a stock tranny that never broke. Then got rid if it before it did. That was kind of a low weight high HP thing that could be the same strain as a car with more weight and less HP.

At the end of the day the %s say these trannys will break under a little power.

The tranny saving bracket actually does wonders as it has helped breaking intervals go down.

I will never use an old school tranny in my car if I have more than 300 LB FT Torque.
