you only answered the second part of my post. As for the girdle, what about a street motor that revs high, like most built ve motors. Surely the girdle is best kept in those instances?

I knew about the windage tray gains, but I never really gave the girdle vs windage tray much thought. To me the girdle's benefits always simply outweighed any reason to possibly remove it.
