Usually if the car gets towed anywhere, they get the vin and contact the registered owner to charge them fees, so doesn't sound like the case to me on that. If in florida from what bad said to me you dont need the title and shit to take the wrecking yard, this would be a pretty smart move, steal the car, take off the shit you want, and scrap it and get away with it. If ga didnt see the car, it may of NEVER been found.

This is good news! Hopefully the car can be salvaged and brought back to it's previous glory!

Not necissarily..

This happened to me on a B14 that I sold that then got re-sold and never registered. Car got towed and sat in the tow yard for a few weeks before they finally decided to find me and tell me I owe for it.

If it is towed in then yes. But someone can sell it for scrap metal without a title. Just have to sign a poece of paper saying you do own the car. Those cars are usually crushed same day, hence how so many people get away with it. I'd bet that if it wasn't spotted out so quickly it would have been a crushed square on a pallet ready to be sent off to be melted down by today. I scrapped a 93 tbird shell a few years back, I legally owned it but the title was who knows where so I just sold it for metal weight. I signed the paper and it was picked up off the trailer and compacted before I even left.

im glad this headache is over. much props to ga16det for this. if i was a day too late, they would have auctioned the car. it was sitting in the lot for over a month. the police never informed me and neither did the towyard. the bill was outrageous, but at the end of the day, i got it back, minus the rims and radio. once again, thank you to ga16det and thank god for the existence of this forum.

YOU DO NOT PAY THAT FUCKING BILL. YOU DO NOT PAY A DIME. YOU REPORT THAT FUCKING YARD TO THE POLICE FOR ACCEPTANCE AND POSSESSION OF STOLEN GOODS! WTF?!

Then you sue their asses! If they don't have any repercussions, they will never learn.

Are you fucking kidding me? You do not pay them. You pay a lawyer instead if you have to.

I agree with ben, Threaten to sue the shit out of them for not contacting you, its extortion just letting it sit and sit and sit, instead of take 25 mins to look up the registration in their system and give you a call, or call the state. Id pay them with card, them put a stop payment and threaten to sue them.
