Wow good shit. Wish every story ended like this. I feel like I would pay whatever to have my car back just to see it sitting back home. Props to ga16det!

Are you fucking kidding me? You do not pay them. You pay a lawyer instead if you have to.

^^^Agreed. May not need a lawyer but if it happens they will toss this out. Fast. No pay, no way.

Ben, I 100% agree with you. but if the bill is not paid there is no way able to get the car. tow yards in FL are pretty fucked up. When my car was stolen i got a bill and my license was suspensed because i owed the tow yard money. All my lawyer said was "you can add that to the restitution or take them to small claims court" at that point i payed a small amount(10%) and the lein was removed. will i ever see the money from my car being stolen? NO. and 3 motherfuckers were cought...

Man you should have called the cops the minute you identified the car as yours. You have a police report stating your car was stolen. For all you know it was stolen from someone in that works @ that yard!

The only reason you should have to pay is if you car was legal towed for any parking violations, back tickets ect.. Even then it is the tow yards duty to contact the owner to inform them that their car has been impounded.

Just imagine this scenario.
The car WAS auctioned off, and then one day trini sees HIS car on the road, or someone from the forum does. Follows the car, and either beats the living shit out of the guy, and/ or steals the car back at night thinking it was the guy that stole the car. Then the fucked up scenario comes from this guy having lein papers that he bought it at a auction, yet you have the title and police report saying it was stolen. The guy would loose the car to the REAL owner, and then would the tow yard give the guy that bought the car at the acution back his money? . It could of caused a SHIT load of issues, and been a fucked up scenario because they cant take 20 minutes to look into what may be going on with that car.

Yep,as much as we like to say"fuck you it was stolen",or try to go suing people and whatnot, this is the sad truth in FL.
I had the exact same problem when my NX was stolen.
The car was reported stolen to the police and the Tag office.I had to go there and sign affadavits.
Then 3 days later they fund my car burnt to the ground.
Guess what?
I didnt want the fried egg back ,there was nothing left even remotely salvageable.....but I HAD to pay the towing bill for taking it to impound or my license would be suspended.
So they wanted 300 bucks ,and I had to pay it
Kick me in the nuts while I am down, why dont you.

Glad you got it back. Now consult a lawyer, you have a decent shot.
