Body Work Offer for Members in Dade and Broward
To all members in Broward and Dade County:

I have access to a full body shop and can get extremely low rates for bodywork and paint. If anyone in Broward or Dade needs/wants some work done, PM me and we can set up meet at the body shop. (actually from anywhere, but local is better for gas mileage etc)

Just so it's clear about this offer. I make nothing on the job except knowing I helped out a fellow member. The shop makes a few bucks, but nothing near the true cost of the work performed. The owner of the shop is a good friend who let me do all the body work and painting of my car there for the cost of materials and paint. I asked him about doing this for forum members and he is okay with giving deep discounts for members.

LKN if anyone needs or wants something done.

See the difference in my ride:

I painted the car and yes I did paint the keyhole by accident. I taped up the other side and left this one un-taped. I did take out all the windows, molding door handles etc... I had my car in the shop for over three months while I worked on it off and on. Although I am no professional and did get some help with tips and the correct way of doing things according to them, (other people have different ways) I have prior experience doing some body and paint work.

The people at the shop are knowledgeable, and they do the work they are paid to do. I am not saying that the paint job will be show car quality, especially for the lower cost, but you will be satisfied with the work and the paint will last.

Orange peel is mostly common place on any paint job even on some of the extreme high quality ones. It happens when the paint doesn't lay down flat with the other paint molecules. Look close at some dealers brand new cars, you'll notice slight defects in the paint. This is almost completely unavoidable, yet if your technique is good, your equipment is functioning and correctly set up, the humidity is not too high, your paint quality is good and your surface has been properly prepped, you should achieve a near perfect finish.

This being said, my car had some orange peel when I first took it from the booth and unwrapped the paper, but after a couple of weeks I wet sanded and buffed it away. I didn't even do that good of a job (IMO) and people comment on the paint. I've even gone to some other body shops asking for their opinion on the outcome and have received good comments. I'm not a body-man or painter but I was able to accomplish this after 20+ years of not spraying anything. A person who has been doing it for many years consecutively should have much better results, and he does.

Not saying that he doesn't get his share of mistakes. I've seen some runs, a bit of over-spray here or there, but nothing which was not able to be resolved with a little bit of knowledge on how to make it right. Once in a while he has brought the car back in the booth to re-spray it. No one is perfect and this place isn't, but I'm very satisfied with how I did my car with their help and have seen many people drive away happy too.

All I'm saying to the members is that if they want or need some work done and want to save some cash, my friends body shop is willing to help.
