Thread: Clutch fork flapping

Sup everyone I've got a 97 200sx that is having some issues. I originally thought was the clutch cable, but it wasn't. After replacing the clutch cable I went to start the car everything was fine but the pedal was stiff I pushed it in a few times thinking the cable just needed settling. Felt a thud and the pedal went to the floor. My question is how likely is the clutch fork to break or become loose from the shafts it's on? There's no tension but if I push down on the arm it gets tight. I then go to push the pedal in and it stays on the floor.

Throwout bearing or the clips that hold the throwout bearing.

I've seen a few clutch cable arms break, mostly on b14s.. I have a few layin around if u need one, not that hard to fix but u do need to remove the trans but not actually open it..

Could just be the tob clips like Kyle says.. either way u gotta drop the trans..

Thanks yea that's what I thought. I'm hoping it's just the clips. Will be removing the trans tomorrow since I have time. Thanks for the input. Are the clips something that's easy to find or is it something only Nissan would have?

Just got done removing the trans. The throw out bearing completly broke from one of the little arms, and the other side was the only thing attached. Bad part is my radiator core support broke trying to loosen bolts.

How did your core support break from loosening trans bolts?

My bad. It was the bolts that hold the cross member in the front. Went to loosen them and the metal literally just twisted apart.

Supports are cheap. Rven better to learn it broke now than in any other condition. Replace, make shiny and new and press on. If you need a ckutch fork. i think i saw a member in FL selling some.

Started tearing everything down to install the new clutch. I noticed my clutch fork was worn down from what I assume was friction. Just wondering if it's common or something is wrong. Also how do I upload a picture?
