An N1 box is just a 16ve box there is no difference. Only the Nismo boxes have different gears.

A box with a 4.3fd originally has better gear ratios suited to being used with an aftermarket FD be it a 4.7 or 5.1.

I have a sr16 box with a 4.78 for about 2 years on a sr16engine few a extras ..but this combination for feels great I am think on using a 5.1 with a regular sr box its almost like having 1.2.3 like the sr16 box with 4.78 just that wit ha 5.1 on a regular box ill have a shorter 4 gear but a too short 5th gear for the highway

All I can say is the 32a box standard 4.11 is real bad third is too long , I have put in a 4.78 yet to test it.

Speaking for na cars... On the strip I am still stuck in third

^^^this is spot on.

only thing worth doing would be finding a low ratio (0.73? g20 fifth) for the 5.1. 32a box

the .0756 fifth on the 32v makes it just bearable on the hwy. both below pictures are 4.78 32v rpm in kph.

My 5.1FD in a DE gearbox is 3750rpm @70mph on a 24.9" tyre.

Edit- You can see how tyre size makes a big difference, my rpm is almost the same as 4.7fd.
