Clutch problems are driving me insane
Ok so I guess I'll start with a little backstory here, I have been having this binding/sticking clutch pedal issue for a while and have had to pull my transmission twice now... first time was because the clutch lever snapped, so I replaced that. Sometime after that it just started getting worse and sticking a ton... My understanding is that a notchy/sticky feeling in the pedal is the throwout bearing sticking or binding up on the collar that it rides on and that it should be greased... I kinda ruled out the cable/pedal themselves by unhooking the cable and prying on the lever with a giant screwdriver and felt the same notchy feeling, but I learned that this is a fairly stupid way to test this because my screwdriver slipped, the lever snapped back and one of the TOB clips came undone which was a whole separate issue... So I ended up dropping the trans again to replace the whole clutch with oem parts (was running jwt pp and flywheel before), also replaced the throwout bearing and clips and greased up the part the bearing slides on, put it all back together and it felt great for like a couple hundred miles until the same feeling gradually came back just as bad as it was before. Bad enough to where sometimes it will stick right before fully disengaging causing me to grind gears which in turn makes me want to punch babies. The only thing I can think of is maybe heat thinning out the grease or something? Because it feels alright when it's cold but it gets worse the more I drive...

So my question I guess is, has anyone experienced this sort of thing and do you have any ideas on what else I could try? A different type of grease? Maybe I missed something? I am out of ideas and if I have to drop my transmission again for this I want it to be the last time...

LOL at the punch babies comment...
anyway. To me it really sounds like a cable problem.I have had the same issues with an old cly=utch cable or a crappy aftermarket one.
Actually IO had a car that had a brand new aujtoparts store cable and I refused to believe that was the problem. But after throwing and old piece of shit, clapped out OEM cable,I realized that was the whole problem.
If you greased the TOB and it is all new clips and whatnot,I dont see how you could have issues there
I would say buy a NEW Nissan Oem clutch cable and go from there. If that doesnt fix it,then its not wasted money because they are the only ones worth a shit in my experience

Just change your clutch cable. Buy an OEM. I had the same issue some years ago. It is a common problem.

Hmm, alright. I guess I'll order a cable and see if that does anything for me. Thanks

OP your cable is stretching. Try adjusting the wheel allllll the way in clockwise and see if that helps

It's not an adjustment issue, it's the issue of feeling like I'm pushing my clutch pedal through a bucket of gravel. I ordered a new cable from Greg already so we'll see what that does...

you will also want to inspect the firewall clutch bracket. the bracket will flex when they are cracked it causes funny things to happen to the clutch cable.
