4th and 5th in the 99 g20's are known to be super weak (also road proven by myself). They are way longer than is necessary. Shorter 4th and 5th should give me slightly better acceleration in the 70-100 mph range, which sounds like fun to me... For the record I am not actively seeking a transmission at the moment. Just trying to jump on good deals while they are available. At the time I posted this I had poor connection and didn't have time or patience to learn that 240sx's are RWD. Is it a slightly embarrassing post now? Sure. But I had the balls to ask what I needed to ask when I needed to ask it... And yeah, sounds like it's the 91-94 se-r trans that I want...

Your 99 g20 has a hydro clutch system and b13/14 transmissions do not. You would need to convert them from cable to hydro and that's not worth your time. Look for a b15 2.0 5spd trans they are stronger and have better gearing. Good luck.

So I'm looking at a '00 (or newer) sentra then...?

Se-r that is... But no limited slip. For limited slip I'd need the spec v 6 speed... I want limited slip though... Might research doing the hydraulic conversion then. I got nothing but time...

@se200 is right. I forgot about the hydro clutch in the 99 g20's. Not se-r/spec v b15 as that would require a more extensive swap even though it is possible. You are looking for the 2000-2001 SE 2.0 w/PP (PP = performance package) which has LSD trans.

Perfect. Good answer. Now I have extremely specific trans needs lol. I guess that's a good thing though... The for the info.

Why are you in 4th and 5th if you are trying to accelerate in the 70-100 range. 3rd gear does just fine. You could always swap your final for something geared a little lower if you wanted. 4th and 5th are for cruising, if you want to be faster modify the engine to make more power.

FYI: 240's are rear wheel drive, your car is front wheel drive, the trans will not work.

Yep. I am aware. Since folks were vague and patronizing I looked it up. 3rd gets me to 80 maybe 85 if I push it. I'm not actively seeking a transmission, but if I come across a good deal on a good swap...

Anyways... The 99 g20 has one of the (if not THE) weakest trans of any sr20. A trans swap would really make a world of difference on a heavy, long geared car
