WARNING - fake Aerocatches are out there
I purchased a set of Aerocatch latches from another forum member a while back, unknown to him they were fake. The main handle broke off yesterday, and I attempted to contact Aerocatch to see if parts were available. After a few questions back and forth, they informed me that I had counterfeits latches - likely from an eBay seller and our friends in China

AeroCatch

My latches had all the visible differences from the "bad" column. Needless to say, I ordered a new set.

Just thought I'd share.

Thanks Joe, nice heads-up.

I am damn sure going to buy from an authorized dealer.

Thanks Joe,

Fellas... make SURE you don't cheap out and buy these fake hood latches... It's one thing to save money - but being a person that has had his hood fly up at high speed - saving that 50 bucks or so likely will result in you not getting your moneys worth in repairs...

Broken Windshield = $150 minimum replaced non oem
Hood Replacement = $50-$250 depending on material
Body work for Damaged Roof = $100-300
Replace Shit Stained Seats from Near Death Experience on Track/Highway = $50
Your Life Worth to yourself and your loved ones = Priceless

That's shitty.

Another reason I bought mine direct from Aerocatch. Glad you got yours replaced.

This is good to know. I plan on not running a hood latch and using just the locking versions to hold down the hood... having one break would be shitty.

Well, if mine hadn't broken I wouldn't even have know about this. So I can't honestly blame the person who sold them to me. He thought they were real as well.

And my new one showed up today. Inspecting the real versus the fake shows all the tell tale signs listed on the website. BUT THE PACKAGING AND EVEN THE INSTRUCTION SHEETS WERE IDENTICAL!!!

Please only buy from an authorized distributor and not some rip off ebay outlet.
