Again, it's an aluminum head. Did everyone see the box that it was delivered in? There's no insurance claim with packaging like that. If I worked at fedex/ups/usps I'd laugh after looking at the packaging.

Anybody remember the movie, The Cable Guy? That's what happens to your package, but thats spread out over 4-5 days of shipping. LOL I dont see any way of them taking responsibility.

That head will need a lot of work to use it. I wouldn't trust:

The mounting surface to the block
The intake side
The exhaust side
The vc side
The distributor side
The cams

Basically nothing, every part needs to be measured and skimmed. And that looks like a lot more than $100 worth of work.

this pic just makes me laugh. Getting that plug out after it has been ground down is going to be a bitch if you are going to service the head or change valve springs and retainers. No alan key will fit in there now to remoce the plug

All because someone did not want to grind on a distributor which can be had anywhere.

did you request insurance on the shipping ? thats your responsibility. if so contact ups and ask them what they are going to do for you.

either way the seller owes you 100 dollar for repairs to the head.

piss poor job of shipping/packing.

ive sent parts all over the country, trannys to cali, motors to st martinique (island in the bahamas) im in the proccess of sending a header to guam. ive never once had some one complain about my packaging methods.

some one needs to make a sticky the proper way to ship in the f/s section maybe.

stratton.

the seller is a cheap skate. after receiving he messaged me saying "i should have paid miko the extra $70 and got it from him." for a $70 difference i wouldn't second guess getting it from miko. and for $70 you would have gotten a properly insured package. as it was, i was selling the head for $500 plus shipping. he offered $450 shipped. it cost me $100 to ship a head i paid $600 for before shipping. so i was taking a loss already. i received the head in the same box that i sent it in plus some straps i asked them to add.

when i mentioned that the shipping was going to be killer ($94) the buyer didn't budge and didn't ask for insurance. before i sent it, it did not have the damage seen in the pics.

i'm sorry, but you get what you pay for, and you paid nothing for shipping. i have already taken a loss, and i would suggest taking tje $100 you get from fedex for damages and repair the head. that is going to be the best outcome.

if i get banned for this, i will live with the consequences, but i have made numerous transactions as both a seller and a buyer and i have never been confronted with anything like this.

i'm not going to get into a back-and-forth on this.

That is fucking retarded.

You were upset about taking a loss so you took your loss or pain or suffering and passed it on to a fellow man. (Not even that we are all on this little car forum, we are fellow men)

How does that make sense?

That mentality makes ZERO sense to me and is despicable I guess would be a good word.

i wasn't upset about taking a loss. otherwise, i would have kept it. i currently have a ve that this was going to be the spare for. i was actually thinking about building it up so i could just drop it in with minimal downtime. as far as "passing suffering to my fellow man" i told you that that is how i received it, undamaged. tell me why i should invest additional money in additional packaging and insuring? that is the buyer's responsibility. as mentioned, you know the risk of shipping. i do not. i have never read a tutorial on packing heads. i simply packed it up as received. i guess i was lucky, but i also insured it just in case.

Insurance is the responsibility of the shipper, not the receiver. (AKA, SELLER NOT BUYER). It's the seller's choice in whether to charge the buyer for the cost of insurance. Insurance is VERY cheap, and protects the SELLER, not the buyer, in the event of a loss or damage to the parcel.

You just made a very expensive mistake, because you didn't cover YOURSELF for the cost of the head that you sold to someone; now using it as an ashtray or desk ornament.

Lucky, lucky, lucky. I would be pissed even if it arrived in perfect shape. That looks stupid whoever "packed" it.

I would say because that is the decent thing to do. Make sure that the thing you ship arrives in what would appear normal wrapping and packaging. I sold a header and secondary pipe to a fellow forum member and it was easy and cheap to pack. Lots of bubble wrap and I asked him to make sure it arrives un damaged besides the pictures of previous damage before hand.

The only difference is the weight and all them tiny pointy edges on the head that need protection.

I do not even want to talk about it anymore. It is a shame that this happened. Makes me never want to buy anything from the internet and causes more lack of faith in human beings acting humane.

i beg to differ, it was not my responsibility since i was the one paying for it. it was left up to me--my choice. that's what the buyer decided when he chose not to cover shipping. had he paid for shipping like i requested i would have factored in the insurance like i normally do because shit does happen.
