Emmissions, SRVE and OBD2 question
Well, I was looking into purchasing a sr20ve powered car but one problem. The car is OBD2 and all they do is do a plug and read for the emmissions testing in my location.

My question is, if I purchase a calum chipped ecu with egr/rear o2 delete, would the obd2 scanner read as if they were not there or will it ignore the 2 sensors and not throw a code or issue to the OBD 2 scanner?? Is there anyway around this issue for OBD2 cars and SR20det/VE engines??

Thanks

Somewhere on the old forum Eric96SER has a diagram on how to setup a VE to pass emissions. He's got the same thing you do- VE, Basic ECU, OBDII, scanner emissions testing and passes no problem. I recommend not getting the 'resistor' mod for EGR and rear O2 and just following his directions.

FWIW,

I've got the Calum RT ECU, and I put the resister in the EGR temp sensor plug (as Eric recommended), I'm still running my rear O2, and I have no issues with my ODB II car for codes. (I drive a 96' P10 with a VE and Calum's ECU, here in the Phoenix, AZ area the cars are "smogged" via the ODB II port).

Boostle, feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Calum,

I emailed you. I was the guys selling the car but now I know this can be resolved I want to change the setup to be able to do this. I'm curently running a jw ecu, sr20ve, sr16 cams, and msd switches in 98 se. Could you contact me with cost, etc.. I'd like to be on your next order list,,,

G20-Budo-- what kind of resistor do I need to get for the egr and where to get it?

Thanks..

I'm pretty sure I used a 100k ohm resistor.

It took a few days for the code to clear, because I didn't clear the code right away. With the realtime it's very easy and quick to clear the code, I just didn't to see how long it would take. Calum is the man!!

Well if it means I can keep the engine a realtime ecu seems worth it to me. Have no idea how to tune it though. I'm guessing the basic won't do the same thing?
