I was on stock ecu. S4's like a little more than 15 deg timing. I bet you could pick up 4-5whp just by bumping your timing to 17 deg or so. CAI's are not near as efficient as a short ram intake w/ pop charger. Its already proven that while moving a short ram w/ pop charger will make more power than a CAI, Only advantage to a CAI is stop and go when the bay gets heat soaked. The jwt s3's liked 19 deg timing any more would feel worse and any less would feel worse. The s4's like right around 17 deg base timing when using a stock ecu.

This was my very first se-r and again full interior 91 w/ sunroof, abs, and all seats, stereo and everything. Only thing removed was a/c compressor and lines and spare tire and jack out of the trunk.

When i first put the jdm motor in it had all the listed mods except was on a stock exhaust and stock cams and it went 14.9@91 did the exhaust and went 14.5@94, did the cams and went 14.3 at 97. When you go to the track every weekend like I did back in 02 and 03 you tend to get really good at launching on street tires and flat shifting. Probably had over 500+ passes on that car and setup before I sold it. It was consistent which kicked ass in bracket racing. I came in 2nd several times and every time I lost due to redlight but was closer to my time than the winner. lol. That was vs about a group of 100 people racing brackets every weekend. Fun stuff. The good old days.

hmm, I will probably try the pop charger setup since i dont drive in traffic too often.. Ill just snatch the one off my dads P11.
The previous owner of my car had the timing at 17* at one point and noticed nothing, so he dropped it back down to 15* (with the same setup)

Yep, Short ram w/ Pop charger and 17 deg timing FTW. With both together you should definitely feel a SOTP difference and definitely break 150+whp.

sweet. Looks like I have a project for tomorow.
on a side note: I was planning of running my cai setup and mating it with the jwt pop charger. Someone (I want to say mike kojima, but in not 100%) said it was considered the most "potent" setup.

what a dick. Yeah, like Martin said, I had the SE-L's on with the RT-615's. I really don't know what was causing the crazy wheelhop since I didn't have that issue before. I have the ES motor mount inserts/mounts. It might have been the track itself. I should have tried the other side. I did all my passes in the left lane.

To give you an example my first b13 se-r with a 155whp DE full weight other than no jack or spare tire in the trunk, ABS, Sunroof, 91 b13 went 14.3@97mph on street tires. 2.1 60's. Im sure your b14 cant be much heavier than my b13 was. I can bet you that slipping clutch is absolutely killing you.

Yeah, I think the B14's are only about 100lbs heavier and I don't have ABS but do have a sunroof. I'm thinking that if I get my 60' times down to 2.1 then I should be trapping around 14.4-14.5.

Any recommendations on a good clutch that's reasonably priced? I have a Crapmasters...I mean Clutchmasters stage 1 that obviously can't handle a bolt on VE. The pressure plate on this thing feels as soft as a stock clutch. The Excedy stage 1 I have in my P10 VE feels stiffer. Maybe I'll go with the Excedy since they're an OEM manufacturer.

go with a clutchmasters stage 3 or stage 5 and you will be fine. The pp's are much stronger in those stages and still feel like stock as far as pedal feel.
