I heard about that before, I did not know if that was true or not.
According to the carfax report I have, the car is from North Carolina.
How come no 97's Se-R's were sold in Cali?

cool.
they didn't meet Cali emissions. that's why you see all that additional crap on the intake manifold of the 98-99's.
