Ksports are piles of shit, period.

Do what you wish and keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

Koni > Ksport

Came in here to bash KSport............

Realized only about 5% of the masses use utilize (or even realize) the Konis true abilities.

Carry on

Have you priced a Fortune Auto setup? That would be the only [s]Chinese-made[/s] cheap option I'd consider.

That is a bit of a stretch. I emailed them and they are assembled by hand by US folks here in this country but from parts sourced from all over the world.

Here is a piece from an email sent from Terry part of Fortune Auto sales.

We do not have any major machining capabilities in house.
Everything that does get machined for us gets done locally by a machine shop.

To answer your questions about the content of our parts. None of our parts come from China.
The sum of contents in our shocks come from the USA, Sweden and Taiwan. This is why we do not advertise made in the USA. This is done to keep costs down.
If all of our parts were made in the USA you would expect to pay twice as much for our products.

Lastly, for the past year most of our shocks are now designed and assembled in house. This allows us to keep a strict eye on quality.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

I had "the only cheap option" and then I edited it to say "the only Chinese-made option" .
I should have left it alone. =/

I pestered Terry and even optioned them to drive my car down there and leave it there for an updated P10 set. Eventually Jon H. got Terry to re-visit there P10 design and front and rear coilovers were tweaked for optimum driving. Huge thanks to @cavern Jon H. for that. I still have yet to purchase from Fortune Auto but I will probably do it for one of my P10s.

Or how about we don't flood a How To thread with your opinions on what setup is better? Go create a new thread of keep your opinion to yourself because I sure as hell don't want to hear it.

I need a little bit of clarification. From what I'm reading here, for the B13 chassis, if you are going to use the Koni inserts, you would use a pair of B13 front struts in the rear, and these front struts would not need to be shortened at all, just install the inserts? Or am I misreading this.

Right now my B13 has stock parts all the way around, I will be going with the Road Magnet springs, which are 1" (ish) shorter than stock.

And needing to confirm that 8610-1409SPORT is the preferred insert all the way around? This car will primarily be for the track, with occasional road use. I'm not concerned about ride comfort on the street.

Custom Koni Shorts is referring to lowering or "shortening" the Koni Insert in the housing by cutting that nub off the bottom, so you aren't technically making the housing shorter.

All of this depends on how you want things to sit and what parts you use, I am sorry that I can't really tell you exactly what you need to do. Every housing is different, from how long the overall housing is and where the spring perch sits on the housing relative to the hub mount. Even depending on what brand rear housings you use you may end up with different length housings. If you are going to weld on your own spring perches then none of that really matters, just get four front housings and clean them up so all you have left is basically a tube with a hub mount on it. Depending where your spring perch ends up is what determines if you need to shorten the Koni or not.
The reason I shortened the rears on mine is because I used front housings, which has the spring perch closer to the hub mount on the tube which in turn dropped my rear by one inch, leveling the rear with the front. This is coming from AGX housings with the Ground Control spring kit. If you are using stock style springs then your biggest concern with travel is going to be in the front.

There is also mention that the front inserts do not fit in the rear housings of B13s, the inner diameter is too small on the housings. Check this before you attempt to put the front inserts in the rear. This might also be a big reason I went with front housings but I can not remember at this time...
You might notice a theme here.. measure, measure, measure and measure again. If you can get your hands on a spare rear housing to cut and measure you'll know for sure.

That part number is for the front insert on a B15 Spec-V, you can use them in the rear too. Again, I believe you have to use front housings with these.
