Thread: brake light on

My dash brake light is on. I tried adjusting the cable from the console nut but it's full tight. The ebrake is still functioning fine 7 to 8 clicks. I pushed down the little plunger all the way and it didn't turn the light off...is there somewhere else that could be adjusted? Or is that tiny plunger switch in need of replacement? 91 nx2k.

The light doesn't shut off when the "tiny plunger switch" is pressed? Are the brake lights on all the time even when the car is off?

Manny I beleave he's referring the the ebrake light?! If so it could be an alternater problem. Notice dimming headlights at night while the radio is on? Check your belts an alti.

Check your brake fluid.

Brake fluid or the switch for the e-brake is no longer working correctly.

Yes, that's what the sensor on the side of the master cylinder is for.

Well it's definitely above that sensor. False reading from cornering? Wait...wouldn'tIt turn back off though?

You're going to have to troubleshoot the circuit then. I'd imagine the low fluid switch is normally closed, so pulling the plug and jumpering it should tell you if that's where the problem is. Same thing with the e-brake switch.

Time to break out the FSM & DVM!!!
