b14 manual steering rack?
ive been looking around for a manual steering rack for a b14 but havent found anything, i know you can gut the rack but i wanted to know if it would be as smooth as a real manual rack or is it going to feel clunkly/binding and stuff? any help or input would be appreciated. thanks

If you gut the rack correctly it will be better than a manual rack. The steering ration will be faster and its pretty much free. It took me an hour or so to gut it with it already out of the car.

did you follow any write ups. the car is motorless to the rack will be taken out in a couple of days, now is the steering completely free? like theres no valves in it? i remebered i drove a b15 that the valve was bad inside the rack and u could leteally throw the steering to one side with no effort and once it hit the end it would roll back all by itself with the car standing still. that was power steering but i dont think it would happen with a ps rack completely gutted as theres no force to make it move oh so freely

Moto IQ has a write up for the Miata rack, very similar. I have not driven the car yet but it feels ok.

I didnt, i didnt see any play in it, it seemed solid on the P10 rack.

Will the manual rack from a b13 work? I have one and the knuckle in the garage if you need one.

the rack itself is the same, the tie rods may be different. I am using B13 inner tie rods on my P10 rack with a CS bump steer kit. At most you would have to swap tie rods, but honestly it would be a good time to replace them with new ones too.
