Agreed. If you draw these out on paper you can see how it will move relative to the SRL and it will still bind.

Google "Scott Russel Linkage" and you should find a site that shows a linkage in motion. You will notice that the main beam on the bottom moves horizontally while the supported point moves perfectly vertical through the entire motion. In our cars, that horizontal motion is provided by compliant bushings that let the beam move (or the system binds up, as everyone is saying).

the dog bone is the Scott Russell link. and the adjustable one lets you re-centre the beam at your chosen ride height, so the compliant bush is centred also, so how is it going to bind?

Scott Russell

Watch that. When EBC is parrallel to AB the arm is at full extention. At any point other than that, it'sa shorter distance from A-C. This is the over center, or binding that we're referring to. It's just built in to this type of linkage.

Beam right at work, pictures from this weekend. Still looks bad even with rear bushings, stiffer front springs, and stiffened up rear swaybar.

That's with B&G front, 1.5" drop, and Tein S-tech back, 0.8" drop. Yes I know they are still too soft for autocross, best bet would be a set of 350-400lbs springs. My p11 is a daily and wont be autocrossing much anymore, that will be B15's roll.

Bone stock, 100k miles on everything

Tein s-tech's front and back 2" drop front, 0.8" drop back.

For your beam axle reference, my car at the Nordschleife going through Karoussel and Brunnchen corner:

What can it tell us about the beam suspension or doesnt it add anything to the discussion..?
