- Good stud install trick
Thanks @BenFenner

^I put some vaseline on the back side of the stud so that it pulls in easy.

^Then I hit the back side and the threads with some liquid wrench and used a 24mm socket and a spacer with a 1/2 ratchet to crank the stud through. I was able to use my 1/2 impact gun on the rears, but the fronts needed some elbow powa. (MAKE SURE TO USE A OLD LUG NUT TO CRANK THE STUD THROUGH. YOU DON'T WANT USE YOUR NEW LUGS AND RUIN THE THREADS)

^Brake cleaned the rotor before and after the whole install.

^High pressure air to remove all the dirt and you're done .

Question- Im planning on purchasing 949 Racings UL wheels in 15X8, for my B13 and might run a 5MM spacer in the back. If I were to purchase the ARP WRX extended studs, could I use 949 racings closed lugnuts with them? Any info would be appreciated- thanks guys!

The ARP WRX studs are 12 X 1.25 and very long.

I do not see any 12 X 1.25 lugnuts on their web-site, only 12 X 1.5 lugnuts. No closed ended lugnuts on their site either, all open ended design.

Lugs Valves Caps Rings

Further, I do not see any way that a closed end lugnut would work on the ARP WRX studs. Refer back to very, very, long. I've got one sitting right here.

The entire length of the ARP WRX stud is right at 80 mm or 3 1/4 inches.

If you measure from right under the cap, it's 75 mm or 3 inches.

From the pictures by MR-4Door-SR20DET, it looks like at least all the threads show on the opposite sides of the hub, which would measure at 63 mm (2 7/16-inches), give or take, sticking out on the front side of the hub including the rounded-off/un-threaded portion at the tip.

Suggestions on the proper tool to fasten all these lugnuts to these fancy wheel studs without screwing anything up?

For long studs you really want an open end. Some race/trackday orgs actually require open.

I've always used Snap-On.

Ive got the long muteki lugs and the 3inch ARP studs barely stick out the ends....

I use an old Craftsman 1/2" beam style

Oh ok my mistake- could had sworn that they were closed lug nuts-I guess ours are 12 X 1.25 not 12 X 1.5 then right? I have a brand new package of Nismo Extended studs and dont see a problem with using them- what would be a good quality lug nut recommeded to use with 949 Racings UL wheels?

If you don't see a problem using Nismo studs, you haven't been reading this thread.

No, no way will closed lugs fit over a 3" ARP stud. No way. No how.

If you're looking for good quality lug nuts, again, try reading this thread please.

I just copied Ameen and bought the Muteki 32905B SR Series Black 12mm x 1.25mm SR48 Open End Lug Nut Set. The black will look good on my black Classic.

I had no idea on them as an racing/track requirement, that's interesting.

Apparently any good quality torque wrench will get the job done.

Good to hear, that will look much better, the ARP's and short little lug nuts looks goofy.
