Snapped caliper pin. What next?
Today I headed out to Josh's to to an easy front pad swap and chill. Well we got to chilling alright but the driver side bottom caliper pin would not budge and I snapped it.
First off thanks to Josh for helping me work on the car and for riding me home.
Here's how it started;
Driver side pad swap went fine but I didn't want to round off the 14 slider pin bolt so I just pulled the 17mm bolts off the tq member connection. Shoulda known here.
The pass side was a pita to put back on and was kinda hung up as well and probably kinda stuck. A little persuasion and it went on. We figured it would all shake out on the test drive
The pass side got really hot when we test drove it but we didn't go that far (2-3 miles) and the fluid was not even warm. The knuckle was real hot and it was starting to transfer to the wheel. When we parked it the wheel was cool but when I went to pull the wheel back off and have a peak it was starting to warm. Kinda worried if I glazed the pads.
We decided I was being lazy anyway not lubing it all but I've generally been pretty good like that and I know I've done it twice before. So when we went to disassemble it I snapped off the pin.
For the record I hit the whole dang thing with pb blaster twice a half hour before we even started.
Now I have a pin snapped and hung up half in the tq member half in the caliper.
What exactly am I ordering and can I just run some NAPA parts rather than OEM. Obviously I want to do both sides. I would search it out but I'm very busy these days and going out of town next Saturday so I really only have one more shot to get this right.
