Thread: Racing Seat Advice

I don't know much about racing seats. I need something that’s has more lumbar support for when I got hot lapping. Anyone have any advice or recommendations? I really like the recaro's that come in the evo's. I want something that is reclinable and could drive around town without any issues. I don't need a track only racing seat. I also have a set of wedge engineering seat brackets for Sparco's.
I was looking at the Sparco R100 for its looks and price.

Damn thats a nice seat, I might have to swap my non-reclinable ones for those.

Yup, price is not to bad at $300 per seat.

If you're over 6', the Wedge/Sparco combo sits too high. It raises it an inch to an inch and a half higher than stock. Helmet clearance becomes an issue.

Advice?
1. What ever you do, if it's your daily driver make sure you get reclinable versions. I just could not stand the angle of the seat my buckets were in. It felt like I had my seat reclinded all the way down.

2. Make sure you find someone to fabricate custom seat brackets with sliders. I have heard everyone talking about wedge seat brackets. When I finally get them installed into my car, I could not stand the seating position and angle they had my seat at.

3. Make sure you pickup the proper seat based on your body style. I bought some bucket seats used off a member on here once, it felt like they were made for someone that was only 4 feet tall 100 pounds with no muscle. I'm a big guy with broad shoulders I don't fit in tight spaces. (Unless it's in some womans va j j)

I don't know if it is possible, but I sat in an '86 Turbo 300Z the other day, and the seats in there are AWESOME. I would totally put those in my car if they would fit. Lots of adjustments for lumbar, heighth, and other things.

Absolutely love the Recaro's from EVO's. You don't "NEED" wedge brackets, have some fabricated to match your seating position. The brackets that came with my Recaro's from Ameen (Tokes) sit me in the car perfectly. They have slider rails on the seats and are reclinable. Most comfortable aftermarket seat I have ever been in. They grip you like no other, and don't bother you on extended drives.
